Question about Organizational behavior
#11
Matymus Wrote:What are you doing for grad school? Are you going thru EC?

I am entering a fulltime traditional brick and mortar grad program in the fall. It's a joint MS in Biomedical Science/MBA program. I have enjoyed my time with Excelsior, and rather liked planning my own path and finding my own classes, but as my kids are in school fulltime now and I am not presently working, a fulltime traditional grad program makes sense, and I am very much looking forward to it. Sindaena Wrote:I just got back from taking the ECE Organizational Behavior exam. I managed an A, so I am very happy about that. The test was definitely not easy. In addition to IC, I had read through the recommended text, and read through the course guide which is a quick outline last thing before leaving for the test. I also did the Excelsior practice tests, and I think that definitely made a big difference. The practice tests do give a feel for the type and difficulty of questions on the actual exam, with some questions on the actual exam being very very similar to practice test questions. Going over what I did wrong on the practice tests really made a difference for me, and almost certainly made the difference for me between an A and a B.

Thanks everyone!

Sindaena,

Congratulations on getting an A on your exam...well done! And thank you for the feedback...I have copied & pasted it into the specific exam feedback section so that others may benefit from your experience with this exam.

Keep up the good work!

brownstien Wrote:I plan on getting a business degree from Excelsior.

Part of the requirements are that I must take Organizational Behavior

DSST version= lower credit
ECE version= upper credit

Additional degree requirements are 12 hours of upper level business electives.

Considering this situation am I better off taking DSST?

My thinking is 1) DSST= cheaper
2) no way they would count the ECE version as part of the 12 upper credit electives

Brownstien,

As you saw from the other posts here, the ECE Organ. Behavior exam DOES count as an upper level exam. However, just to make sure everyone is clear on how all of this works, please see below:

45 Total Business Credits Are Required for a BS in Business at Excelsior College

27 credits = core requirements.
18 credits = electives.

Of the 18 electives:
---------------------------
At least 12 must be Upper Level
3 must be Organizational Behavior (can be upper or lower level)
3 must be Ethics (can be upper or lower level).
  • If you use lower level credits to meet the Ethics and OB requirement, you will still need to complete 12 upper level electives.

  • If you use upper level credits to meet the Ethics and OB requirement, you will now only need 6 more upper level electives, but you will still need to find 6 lower (or upper) elective credits (so that you have 45 credits total).
Please NOTE: Excelsior will accept both the DSST Ethics and the ECE Ethics exams (the DSST would get applied towards the business credits and ECE would get applied towards the upper level requirements). They do not, however, accept both DSST Organ. Behavior and ECE Organ. Behavior...you can only get credit for one of these exams.

I hope this helps.

Basket Weaver Wrote:Lastly, you need to decide which 4 tests you're going to take to make up those 12 U/L hours, I chose to use the ECE Psych tests because IC has outstanding/proven study guides for them.

Lee,

I know that those upper level Psych exams fit in perfectly for a Liberal Arts degree with Excelsior, but unfortunately they can't be used for a Business degree. Sad

Right now, the only exams that can be applied as upper level credit for the Business degree are:
  • ECE Organizational Behavior
  • DSST Business Law II
  • ECE Human Resources Management
  • ECE Labor Relations
  • ECE Ethics: Theory & Practice
  • DSST Money & Banking
  • DSST Management Information Systems
Personally, I would have LOVED it if I could have used some of those Psych exams for UL Business credits, as I'm sure I would have found them much more interesting than exams such as Labor Relations, etc. Rolleyes

Hope that helps,
JoAnne

P.S. Okay, okay, you can stop throwing rocks at me now!! :p
