Question about FEMA
#1
Hi, I have a question about FEMA TESTS. I am planning on going through Thomas Edison State College. Is it true to transfer in FEMA TESTS for your free electives you have to pay 60 dollars a credit, or some amount of money like that. thank you for any help. I know this Fredrick school costs money. But does it cost money and if so how much money does it costs to transfer FEMA credits into TESC free electives credits.

Hello Adrian.

I too will be attending TESC but I won't enroll until September 2008. To my understanding TESC accepts FEMA straight from FEMA themselves. That means you do not have to go through Frederick Community College to get the credits transcribed. You only have to do that for Excelsior College and Charter Oak State College.

They only apply towards your Free Electives for your degree plan. I will be majoring in B.S in Business Administration and the "Free Electives" for my degree plan is 18. I have completed 25 FEMA courses but they will only count 18 of them. I understand that some degree plans, i.e., Liberal Arts have 27 Free Electives in that degree plan, so TESC will accept up to 27 for the Free Electives in that plan. I also understand that they will accept more than that if you are Majoring in an Emergency Management program.

In summary, TESC accepts FEMA credits as is (raw). Meaning that they will accept your credits for free. Just have FEMA fax the transcripts to them or mail them...your choice. You DO NOT have to open a credit bank either to do this.

Also, remember that FEMA counts as Free Electives only, unless you are enrolled in an Emergency Management Program. They do not count as general education electives. Free Electives only.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
