Question Marketing CLEP
#1
I'm scheduled to take it on Tuesday. I was going over "CLEP principles of marketing at a glance" which lists the knowledge and skills requirements and the percentages that are on the test. I mostly studied from this, focused very heavily on the items on this list.

But when I scrolled down this sheet there is a 7 question practice test and the first question on the test deals with product development. I read through a chapter on product development, but didn't focus very much on it because it was not anywhere in that list of things.

Just wondering if the exam has questions on it that were never on that list? Not sure if I should postpone the test and study more or just go take it.

If you have good test taking skills and some common sense that exam isn't too difficult.

I hope you're right because I'm sick of studying for it and just want to take it already and move on to the next thing. Smile

Are you an IC subscriber? All I used for marketing was the IC cards and specific forum feedback. If you have even a couple of hours to go through those, it would make a huge difference.

No I'm not. I'm not really sold on using those flashcards. I happened to have a marketing textbook from a friend who took the class a few years ago. That and this forum and the suggested links were what I studied.

REA book kicks but. Its very short, the practice questions are spot on for the material on the test etc.
You do have to know about product development, test marketing, lifecycle of a product etc.
This is definitely not a hard test though but do prepare well for it because these concepts come back later in business policy TECEP, intro to biz clep or an MBA if you go that route.

Thank you ryoder that's good to know. I'm planning on doing the BSBA CIS at TESC. I have several credits already from B&M schools but I still need to do a few more CLEPs and the TECEP business policy and one other that was in their business core.

I have until tuesday for the Marketing CLEP and I'm not working tomorrow so I'll go back and study that chapter on product dev/life cycle a bit more.

Do you have a link to the REA book you're talking about? I'm not sure what that is. Thanks.

I'm glad to hear you are doing BSBA CIS at TESC because I can certainly help you with that since I am basically done.
My path will probably be very similar to yours in fact.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I passed with a 74!!!

I gotta say, though, I thought the test was difficult. I don't know if it's me and my extreme test anxiety (doesn't matter how much I study or how well I know the material) or if the test really was difficult.

The math related questions were not easy at all. They were not nice round 10s or 5s. I was given scratch paper and a pencil, but I'm very calculator dependent!!

There were at least a couple questions related to product development. This test was very heavy on segmentation and distribution (especially direct distribution), though.

Again, not sure if it's my test anxiety but I was really sweating bullets thinking I was failing it. There were several questions I had no clue what was being asked let alone what the answer was supposed to be. Are we allowed to write down specific questions on here because I'd like to ask you all about one, maybe one of you knows what it means because I sure didn't.
