Question About Peterson's Practice Test Scoring
#1
This may be an extremely dumb question, but when people refer to their Peterson's score, are they referring to their percentage or the number of test questions they got right?

Ex: If they say they score a 66, does it mean they got 66% of the questions right (76 out of 115) or that they answered 66 questions right?

I thought it was the number of questions they got right, but the Peterson test itself is telling me that my "score" is my percentage, so now I am very confused.

Thanks!

I believe it is a percentage, at least that is how I have always taken it. Keep in mind that the Petersen's practice exams seem to grade a little stricter than the actual exams. I have had scores of 53%-70% sometimes on the practice exam and scored A's on the actual exams. So don't fret too much over the score, I use it more as a study aid in reviewing the rationales for correct answers more than focusing on the scores themselves. Good luck!

I looked at the Peterson site and tried to register but it appears that it is for military personnel only. I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, but the only catagories available are those for active duty personnel, retirees, family members of retirees or active duty or current civilian employees. Does anyone know another way for me to take advantage of Peterson to augment my study here at the Academy?

Search the forum for the testing site links. Even some of the links say they are for military personnel but you can still sign up for them. There are several different links available. Your local library may also have links to a testing site as well. Good luck!

try this link. In the middle of the screen it says "college prep tools" and underneath a list of tests. Just click on Clep or Dsst and that will take you to the complete list of exams that have practice tests available. I am a BIG fan of practice tests!! They are a great study tool and a pretty close gauge to how you will do on the real exam. Hope this helps! Also, I think you MORE THAN qualify to take the tests on the military website since you are a veteran of the Marine Corps!!! Thanks for serving!!

This link is reliable and includes screen captures showing you what to do. It doesn't say anything about being military. Free Practice Clep Tests!

Peterson's scores are percentages, CLEP scores are not. As I posted in another thread, here are my Peterson's scores for U.S. History 1: 57%, 62%, 53%. As you can see from my signature, they are quite a bit lower than my CLEP score.
63 CLEP Sociology
75 CLEP U.S. History II
63 CLEP College Algebra
70 CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
68 DSST Technical Writing
72 CLEP U.S. History I
77 CLEP College Mathematics
470 DSST Statistics
53 CLEP College Composition
73 CLEP Biology
54 CLEP Chemistry
77 CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications
