I'm hoping to tap the incredibly vast knowledge of this forum to find a Calc II course to fit my needs.
I planned to take SL Calc I and II and leave it at that, but plans are changing. My new post graduation hopes require three credits or more of RA graded Calculus. I have the CLEP in the bag, and want to take Calc II for a grade.
Needs:
RA
Letter graded
Accepts CLEP Calc as prereq
Starts ASAP / very soon
Allow un-enrolled, visiting students
Not independent study (unless it will be indistinguishable from traditional courses on a transcript)
Wants:
No or minimal proctoring. I have some unavoidable travel all throughout June. I will have predictable/schedule-able, but limited, internet access during that time.
If there's any way the course could conclude before June 10th, proctoring is not a restriction (other than being annoying).
Shorter term, (conclude before June 10th is ideal).
Why not a local CC:
My local CC's are not an option as none of them offer a summer term Calc II (and none offer short terms). Soonest available is a 16 week course in Fall '16. Same goes for the local state U. Beyond that, tuition in MN, even in-state, is quite high.
What I've looked at so far:
I looked at Dallas County Community Colleges and found that they seem to have no-proctor, fully-online Calc II using MyMathLab (I took stats using that and loved it). Their out-of-state rate is actually lower than some of my local CC's in-state. All-in-all, it looks PERFECT! Only problem is there aren't any sections starting soon, from what I can tell (Calc I has some, but not II). It doesn't look like they have any course schedules beyond the current term available right now.
I've poked around at some of the usual suspects on here (Ocean County CC, Clovis CC, etc), but I'm coming up short. Does any one have any suggestions of CC's (or 4 year schools) that offer what I need?
Why not independent study:
I know about all the independent study courses out there, but they all have paper-based proctoring. I had to do that for a UND course and it was a pain in the neck. If I have to, I'll go that route. I'd like to exhaust my search before I take a course with multiple paper-based, proctored exams. Also, from what I was told, a straight-forward, traditional course strengthens my application.
Thanks in advance!
