Problem with Master's program accepting TESC transcripts

I just completed all my requirements for my BA LS at TESC and applied for the March graduation. I also applied for a Master's program at Liberty University.

Problem-Liberty University won't accept the transcript from TESC. Its not that they are being difficult. They have a policy that requires the grades for the courses to be listed as well as a GPA. I completed the TESC degree without taking a course at TESC so according to the new GPA policy I get no GPA...instead I get - N/A. Even if I had taken a course at TESC my transcript would only show the grade/GPA for that course.

I have talked to the registrars office at both schools and so far no luck. Does anyone here have any advice?

I've learned there is a waiver for everything. You just have to talk to the right person. If the registrars can't help you, go to someone who can. Maybe have TESC's president call Liberty's president.

Someone somehow has the power to approve your application. You just have to find out who.

I just had a word with Virginia @ registrars office. according to her TESC will calculate a cumulative GPA for the coursework done at TESC. for eg:
1st class @ TESC score A 4.0
2nd class @ TESC score B 3.0
Cumulative GPA 3.5
Transfers are marked separately as T(this includes everything other than TESC, eg. Community college,

I am also concerned about GPA stuff because maybe i would also be going to school for my masters. I am not enrolled to any school as of yet. So your advice would be highly appreciated.

Since Liberty University accepts CLEPS, DANTES and Excelsior Exams and since all 3 of these types of exams are ACE reviewed ( which means a score of 70% or better (Letter grade of a C) .... could you maybe work that angle and see if they would take those classes with a grade of "C" ( 70%) and then base your GPA off that ?

I know a 2.0 GPA ( C) may not be what you are aiming for but if the GPA is only needed to get accepted it might be a way to work within their rules.

well i dont think so, because i am not a enrolled student.. so TESC is not very co-operative to me.

Can someone please throw some light on how GPA thing works with COSC and EC

to get a GPA at TESC you have to take TESC courses. it is part of their new GPA policy (http://www.tesc.edu/5705.php). you only get a GPA on courses from TESC...so all the classes taken at other colleges come in as CR only.

you only have to take one TESC course and if you get an "A" then you will have a 4.0 on your GPA.

i agree hawkguy...there is a waiver/way around everything. i am just trying to find that right person. i actually talked to cathy at TESC after i posted on here and she has been really helpful. she is the associate director of the registrar(or something like that). she offered to do whatever she could to help so i am excited about that.

HawkGuy is right- there is a way around it at any private college (and most public ones!).
You are in a buyer's market my friend, I'd give Liberty about a week worth of my brain space before I'd be out the door taking my $ elsewhere. Even if you are looking at only Christian colleges, understand that they are ALL PRIVATE and set their own rules. I promise you won't have to look very hard, don't over-invest in that program.

Another option: Enroll in 1 semester (2 classes) of TESC's graduate program. With good grades, you would could re-apply as a grad level transfer student into Liberty (or where ever). Most grad programs don't take much transfer- maybe a class or two, but it's an idea that takes your bachelor's degree off the table.

Additionally, you could always earn your master's at one of the big 3.

Every other graduate program I have looked at requires not just a transcript from the degree school but all schools attended. I looked at the Liberty site and it doesnt state that, though it references transcripts plural several times. They can calculate a GPA for you from those transcripts even though TESC doesnt include them or so I would think. If they dont normally get all transcripts, give them the idea.

Nothing against Liberty but I find it strange that a school which at the undergraduate level has to deal with (I believe) a lot of home schooled
applicants wouldnt have some flexibility. Colleges are bureaucracies, Im with CR,take some time and give it a shot, if it doesnt change then move on or find out what you need to do,bite the bullet and do it.
