Possible Interesting source of RA credit
#1
Hey guys I found this website Teaching Courses for Independent Study and Professional Development. from University of LaVerne, they are RA and in the semester system. Seems like they offer the credits with a letter grade and it is only $110 x credit hour.

They have TONS of classes!!

If anybody here could check if the classes would transfer to Excelsior or TESC that would be awesome!

Thank you,

Perico

Their website calls the credits "graduate level" but also notes they are "non-degree" semester credits. I'd ask a school first about whether credits would be accepted before spending the money. RA is one thing, but those are essentially continuing education courses (which many RA schools offer but don't represent credits that transfer).
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Here is what I found on the FAQ page.

8. Are courses graduate level?

Yes. Professional Development Courses are graduate level, but they are not applicable to a degree.

Is there really such a thing as graduate level continuing education credit? Sorry if that's a stupid question. In what cases would one need graduate level continuing education courses? Why would someone pay so much money for them if they can't be applied to a degree?

The VESI courses I took are considered graduate level continuing education credit, or that's what it says on the transcript. TESC just transcribed them as "graduate credit" after back and forth arguing.

Thanks Perriquit, I'm going to ask TESC if they would take these too.

Perriquit, check your voicemail bud! It's extremely important ;/

But VESi has partner schools that turn their courses into graduate credit for degree programs. It never hurts to ask the school you're interested in.

I know some professions (ex. Accounting) require continuing education to stay current. Maybe this is a cheap way for professionals to stay current on their CE points without having the expense of full credit college courses.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I know many professions require continuing education, but I've never heard of "graduate" continuing education. I don't know about teaching, but in the line of work I'm in, I can find continuing education courses that are either free or a lot less than $100 per credit.
