Please post which Certifications/Training courses translated into Big 3 courses

In an effort to help upcoming students who have not enrolled figure out which external certs/training count toward college courses, I'd like to start this thread as a reference.

This should help people (like me) determine which schools will best fit their specific needs.

I'll start with some information I've run across.

Please note, this is for Specific Courses, not just amount of credit.

This is from TESC regarding CompTIA A+, Network+, and i-net+

CompTIA A+ will receive 2 credits in Windows. CAP-171 Windows is our equivalency. CompTIA Network+ will receive 2 credits in Networks. CAP-181 Networks is our equivalency. We have not reviewed Comptia i-net+ for credit.

We award 10 credits for MCSE, 2 credits for CompTIA Network + and 2 credits for CompTIA A+. The credits for A+ duplicate some of the credit in MCSE. CAP-181 Networks, CAP-282 LAN Administration and CAP382 Advanced LAN Administration can be used as CIS electives

The credits awarded for the MCDBA are CIS-311 Database Management - 4 credits and CAP-181 Networks - 3 credits

MCSD awards CAP-206 Business Oriented Programming Techniques - 4 Credits and Visual Basic - 3 credits

Ap is just an Applied Professional credit and I can't explain Depth 2, however, Snazzlefrag explains it well in this thread: http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/...ight=depth

I just added some more information to the original post, awaiting feedback on the MCDBA and the MCSD.

In my case, for TESC's BSBA CIS Program, My CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCSE, and MCDBA fulfill 13/18 requirements toward the CIS Major option, but they do not fulfill the Programming Language and Systems Analysis and Design requirements, an additional 3 credits would fulfill Business Electives.

However, I am looking into seeing if Penn Foster (ACE Certified) has transferrable Self-Paced classes that would adhere to the requirements.

The BMI for Excelsior (Business MIS) is almost the exact opposite. 5/18 requirements toward the MIS Major are fulfilled, and an additional 10-11 credits fulfill Business Electives.

I asked EC about the coding on the Status Reports and the Network+ here is their response

CompTia certification exam Network + does satisfy the Networking requirement. The Microsoft certification and remaining Comp Tia certification exams you completed are all Management of Information Systems electives, and do not satisfy the concentration subjects. The code of II symbolizes a Management of Information Systems elective.

I had asked if any MS cert would qualify for the Database Management requirement:

MST*254 would not satisfy the Database Management requirement. None of the Microsoft certifications exams would satisfy the Database Management requirement. The Database Management course would need to include introduction to database management systems, review of logical and physical database, data independence, elimination of data redundancy, security, comparison of hierarchical, and relational and network models. Actual use of at least one database management system is highly recommended.
You could take one of the following online courses for Database Management:

None of the certifications you have completed would satisfy the BMI concentration subjects. You could take the following ICCP exams for the BMI concentration subjects:

Business Programming Language - COBOL, Pascal, C or C++ Language
Database Management - Data Base Administration
Systems Analysis and Design - Object Oriented Analysis and Design or Systems Development

Also:

Our faculty has reviewed the ICCP: IT Core exam, and you would receive the following:

2 lower level credits in Introduction to System Analysis - satisfies the System Analysis and Design requirement
2 lower level credits in Introduction to Database Management - satisfies the Database Management requirement

The rest of the credits from the ICCP: IT Core exam would duplicate credit on your Status Report, or be excess business credits.

I did get approval from EC for two Penn Foster Courses

Satisfies the Systems Analysis and Design requirement

CIS240 - Systems Design (3 credits) - ACE Course Number: ICS-0031Role of the systems analyst in developing business applications; hierarchy charts; IPO; decision tables; structured English.

Satisfies the Business Programming Language

CSC218 - Visual Basic .NET (3 credits) - ACE Course Number: ICS-0164
Introduction to Visual Basic and managing controls; dialog boxes and controls; nature of Visual Basic programs; Visual Basic forms, files, and output; graphics, multimedia, and form templates; ActiveX and ADO controls; Internet access, Help files, and distributing programs; multidimensional arrays and the Windows API.

Those 2 Penn Foster courses should also fulfill the TESC CIS Required courses.

ICS0028 - 2 credits systems analysis CIS320
ICS0031 - 1 credit general CIS electives CIS499

Together, these can satisfy the Systems Analysis and Design requirement.

ICS0019 Computer Programming can satisfy the programming language
ICS0040 Comp Lit and BASIC gives 3 credits BASIC which will satisfy the programming language, and 2 credits of general CIS electives
ICS0023 BASIC gives 3 credits BASIC, which will duplicate the 3 credits of BASIC in ICS0040
ICS0164 VIsual Basic gives 3 credits Visual Basic, which will satisfy the programming language requirements.

I think this is great news for anyone with IT Certifications looking to attain a Business or Technical degree.
