Please help with electives
#1
I need one more General Ed Elective for my degree plan (Liberal Arts, Health and Wellness concentration):  would any of these work?  Sophia Communication at Work, Sophia Taking Charge of Your Finances, SDC Library Science.  AND, I thought I read on here somewhere that CSMLearn's Quantitative Literacy could go into AOS for Liberal Arts (remaining 12 credits portion), is that right?  I truly appreciate the help!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!

Communication at Work comes in as a Communication course. Communication is a gen ed.

Taking Charge of Your Financial Future comes in as BUE. I think that this is a business prefix and won't work as a gen ed. (Personally, I highly recommend that you take this course even if it doesn't fit in your degree plan. FULL of good info.)

Library Science comes in as LIS. This is a gen ed elective.

CSM Learn comes in as BUS-210 but it also falls in as a gen ed elective (falls into understanding the physical & natural world). This means it should count as a lib arts course and fit in the AOS.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

You only have 18 credits in your GE electives. For Health & Wellness, I'm showing (in the what-if) that they want 20 credits. I think you'll need another Sophia course. Or maybe take "NU102 - Nutrition & Health-Body Sculpting with Diet & Exercise" from OnlineDegree for $9. (Comes in as FIT-125) I think that would count as a gen ed. "BG101 - Biology-Organisms and Ecosystems" certainly would count as a gen ed, being a biology course.

You did the concentration, but you don't have enough UL courses - you need 2 more in there.

NU102: Body Sculpting with Diet & Exercise (FIT-125) is a Free Elective I think (normally it is).  I wouldn't do this.

Possible options that would "fit" with Health & Wellness are from Coopersmith:
PSY-310: Foundations of Stress Management (SOS-320)
PSY-340: Sport & Exercise Psychology (PSY-334)

Otherwise just choose 2 courses from Study.com that will work (Psych, History, Sociology, etc).

Thank you for the feedback!  My ignorance is plaguing me at this moment.  I stopped at 18 credits in the Gen Ed Electives because my overall credit count had hit 120 credits and in my very newbie brain I thought that made sense - the template at TESU for Liberal Arts says "17-20 credits" and I was within that "range" :/.  Now, if I understand the AOS issue, the concentration would be the 6 specific courses plus the capstone.  I should use at least 2 of the "additional" liberal arts courses category to meet the requirement for a total of 18 upper level courses.  Is that right?  I guess I could slide one of my Sophia courses presently slotted in that category over to the Gen Ed El, that's painless.  And, then add two more UL courses, possibly from Coopersmith, onto the plan.  I admire that both of you are so familiar and knowledgeable on degree plans, this has not been my favorite part of trying to get my degree.  But!  It is almost over, that's a perk.  Thank you both VERY much for helping me, I am grateful.

Correct - the GE needs to be 60cr total (minimum) and then the AoS has to be 33cr total: 18cr of UL and 15cr of LL.  Your concentration courses will fit in there, at 9cr UL and 9cr LL, plus the capstone is 3cr UL.  So you need 6cr UL and 6cr LL remaining - and they have to be Liberal Arts courses, can't be Health or Fitness courses because those aren't considered Liberal Arts.  It can be confusing when they allow a non-Liberal Arts concentration in that degree (same issue with General Mgmt, HC Mgmt, and HR Mgmt).

If you can create a spreadsheet for yourself to make sure you're on track - I split it up into 3 sections: 1) GE with 60cr minimum needed; 2) AoS with 33cr minimum needed (and 18cr of those must be UL); and 3) Free Electives, which is what will get you to 120cr after you're hit those other requirements.  I also have 3 columns to keep track of credits: 1) taken; 2) need; and 3) total.  That way as you start switching courses from need to taken, you'll see progress, plus you'll still have the totals to make sure you have the credits in each section.

Good luck!

TESU kind of expects that you'll have at least one or two 4-credit courses (plus a 1-credit course or two). They don't explicitly require a science with a lab like other schools do but their credit allotments make it very clear that they think that you'll have at least one. It's kind of difficult to get a TESU degree with EXACTLY 120 credits. Based on how many people come back here looking for a 1 credit or 2 credit class, I think that you're more likely to graduate with 121 or 122 credits. It's usually cheaper to go slightly over than to hit the mark exactly.

Yes, it's not just that you need 120cr - you need specific credits in specific places, so in general, you are not going to have EXACTLY 120 credits.  I'll be the VAST majority of people have well over that, simply because there will be courses that don't fit in GE or the AoS, there are too many free electives, they count a course as developmental/non-college-level for some reason, etc.

Honestly, if I was you, I would just go ahead and skip TEEX and stick with Sophia for LL, and then Study.com for UL, I think it will go faster (TEEX was a real slog, I never finished, it was a soul-suck). So many better options available. ICC, CLEP if you want to save money.

Study.com has SOC 103: Foundations of Gerontology and HEA 101: Principles of Health that will get you started on those courses you're going to need to PLA.
