Please Look at my BA in Social Sciences Degree Plan
#1
From what I have been told here and searched myself I can not complete a BA in History at TESC without taking a 6 credit upper level course. This would cost an extra $1000 with books.

So I looked at the possibility of a Social Sciences Degree which will still allow me to teach Social Studies. I think I can complete this including the 15 remaining Upper level credits all with testing out.

The stuff in Blue should complete what I still need for this degree and the red is just to meet the 24 NEW credit requirement. I would appreciate any feedback

What do you mean by UL credits: 300 or 200? I just found on another forum that for 300, TESC accepts Principles of Marketing & Principles of Management (each 3 credits). But if the definition is 200: French Language-Level 2, German Language-Level 2, Spanish Language-Level 2 (12 credits each), Introductory Business Law, Calculus, Human Growth and Development, Introduction to Educational Psychology (3 credits each).
Looks like you can still get your BA in History from TESC. That's what I'm doing...

Upper level is 300 level at TESC now. The problem is the History degree requires 33 History department credits.

That is why I am looking at the Social Sciences degree. I can take a wider range of subjects

If you really want to get your History BA by testing out on almost all the courses, you really can. I have attached a categorized view of my own History degree plan with courses in red. I'm testing out of 105 credits, then taking the last 15 from Liberty & ultimately TESC. Not sure if you're wanting to do it this way, thought it might help.

Linda,

Yes, your plan looks perfect. I didn't realize you still needed so many history exams, for some reason assumed you were closer to the end. The cost for the history degree would be a bit higher. Even so if you still need 4-6 exams. It really all comes down to this; which would you actually prefer? And would be the easier subjects for you to test?

Social Science = (6) Exams or 18 cr?
History = HIS356 course plus remaining (4-6) exams or 18-24 cr?
- For the history degree I thought US history II and West civ II are also required? You can buy the books from another student for $60-65 on textbook swap.

From my quick estimates it looks like about a 300-500 difference between degrees. Not that much all considered. Time would be approx the same.

Good luck in whatever you choose!

I can not use History of Vietnam War for the History BA, I used that for my first BA. I am under the old plan , so I would need 30 "new" credits. of any level but I have only found 27 credits. I will check out the Ohio U exams, but that is 10 exams.

I would need only 24 "new" credits for the Social Sciences degree and I already took Am. Gov. so that leaves just 7 test.

Didn't think about what you've already tested out of for your first BA. Looks like Social Sciences is the way to go!
