Penn Foster only offers self-paced courses. I think they charge about $75 per credit hour. If you're trying to transfer the course to one of the Big 3, make sure it's currently ACE-approved. You can find that out at the link below.

Biology CLEP. Not sure easy. Spend time studying but its worth it. Read exam specific feedback and give yourself time to learn the material. REA book is good.

They offer the following course: SCI120 Introduction to Biology
An introductory course that explains the origin of life and the relationships between all living things. It describes how a significant number of organisms are structured and how they work, in order to enable students to discuss intelligently the various forms of life and their processes. Checking the ACE website it shows it is no longer accredit as of 10/31/2012. They may be in the process of having it renewed by ACE. You can call ACE to find out.

I'm a little confused about courses that have old dates on them. When I took several of those courses some were old and EC accepted them. Do those old dates mean that they no longer have an ACE accreditation? I'm asking because my son might take some of those courses for later degree use.

Those dates mean that they were accredited during that time period. If you took a course within the dates listed, then it's ACE-approved no matter how long ago you took it. If a course is not presently approved, don't take it. Some of the expiration dates listed now might be inaccurate. For some reason, ACE has been changing the dates a lot lately on Penn Foster's page. I think Excelsior accepts a limited number of NA (nationally-accredited) credits without ACE approval.

Yes, I am aware of EC's normal policy. I was the first one in school history that challenged their rule when the appeal process was in place.
My PF credits transferred over from an ACE transcript and was accepted when out of the date range. I'd be interested to hear the official policy.

My understanding of the situation is similar to Sanantone's description. ACE wouldn't add it to a transcript unless it was approved at the time it was taken/completed. Would they? If that is the case, what issue did EC have about it? Before I sign-up for an ACE-approved course I always check that the ACE guide says "to Present" and I print a copy of that page for my records.

That's is a good point.
I went back and checked me records. I found that I actually sent transcripts to EC directly from PF. Some of the courses are old and out of date at the time. Hmmm
