Wait a minute, I'm sorry I misunderstood, it's too early and my brain is not yet fully functioning.:o You actually meant submitting grad request by July 1st. As long as it's in a mulitple choice format, you still have time to take a TECEP (registration for June semester closes May 17-late May 22). Just take the test by the end of June (if online no later than Jul 18) and include the exam and date on the graduation form, sect 3). Let the TECEP coordinator know you are in the grad queue and ask that they expedite your results.

Bricabrac, thank you for clarifying the TECEP registration process. I had thought I was not eligible to do this because they made it seem like it took forever to register for the exam. And for some reason, I was also thinking I had to wait an entire semester before I could register for the next exam, if I missed this "semester". I had forgotten they had monthly enrollments.

I have added the TECEP registration date to my calendar and see if it looks like I need it. Do I understand correctly? If I register in time (May 17-22) I have up until July 18th to take the test for Public Relations Though and Practice and still graduate, even though the rest of my credits need to be in by July 1st?

They put my Saylor Business Communications down as COM 373 and originally place it in my Business gen. management area of specialization. However, I still did not have the required corresponding course for the core so I asked them to move it over by the other SPE and ENG courses.

I have the following upper level courses for my area of specialization: Money and Banking DSST, Organizational Behavior DSST, Human Resource Management. Hopefully as of tomorrow I will have Management Information Systems DSST and I will have completed my PF Consumer Behavior course just as soon as the test gets here.

I'm ready to take the final exams for ACC I and ACC II at straighterline but somethings wrong with my ProctorU link because I already used that email address at ProctorU. Of course the technical staff isn't in until Monday, so hopefully it will get resolved tomorrow. My list of almost completed courses is really stacking up. It will be nice to get some of these finished.

With SL, you put Managerial/Cost accounting first and Financial/Intermediate accounting second. I hear that Managerial/cost accounting is really hard and the final has 75 questions instead of the normal 40, but still with only a 2 hour time limit. I would appreciate your feedback. Since I have recently started my month with SL, another SL course would be the most cost effective option.

I guess I am considering doing one extra course just in case something didn't transfer in as anticipated . . .because by the time I find out it will be too late to do the course and graduate on time. I'm still a little worried all my transcripts won't arrive by July 1st.

To your question on the TECEP exam. YES. You are in time to take the exam if you register by May 22 for the June semester. You then would have to test online via proctorU and take the exam by July 18th at the latest. OF course it's best if you could get it done by June 30 or first week of July but you have some cushion. It is a multiple choice exam, which I have been told are graded in house. Which depending on the exam are graded very quickly. No matter when you take the exam, you should definitely notifiy the TECEP coordinator that you are in the grad queue and ask for expedited grading. Then note the exam and scheduled exam date in section 3 of the graduation form. There should be information on this exam in the specific feedback area as well as this forum. Many have said the exam was easy. Of course YMMV.

Regarding the SL accounting courses, I also preferred intermediate accounting to cost accounting. (I took intermediate acctg I through PF and used it to fill a GMS requirement.) There was no reason I put one before the other, was just listing alternative options for you to choose from. If you want to use another straighterline course, take business communications transfers as COM300 to fill the managerial communications slot and have the saylor corporate communicaiions couse moved to business electives. Then you do not need the TECEP exam.

Under General Education Sec A what do you have filling this slot
Business/Managerial Communications _____??________
Definite SL Business Communications or Possible Alt Saylor Corporate Communications

Did they not approve the saylor course COM373 Corporate Communication here? If not ask that it be used as a business elective.

For your area of study, looks as if it is already completed; pending the MIS exam!

GMS required
FIN-3XX Money & Banking
MAR-3XX Consumer Behavior
MAN-3XX Small Business Managment

GMS electives
MAN-3XX Organizational Behavior
MAN-3XX Human Resource Management
MAN-3XX Management Information Systems

I don't know what you have in business electives but here's a suggestion.
Business Electives
Saylor Corporate Communications or Alternate SL Business Communications
Intro to Business DSST
Principles of Supervision DSST
(optional) Public Relations & Though Practices TECEP

I hope I've answered all your questions clearly. You're doing a great job so far. Good luck with your program!!

Bribarac, you offer excellent advice. Thank you. Could you please help me understand how to know who my TECEP Coordinator is? Assuming one fails a TECEP, how long does one have to wait to take another? I thought I read 3 months but am not sure whether I am right or where I read that.

TECEP Grades/Test retakes (College Catalog p10)
TECEPÂ results are reported on a pass/fail basis only. Letter grades and numerical scores are not entered on your transcript. The minimum score required to earn credit on a TECEPÂ is equivalent to a letter grade of C. Failing grades are nottranscripted.

If you do not pass the first time you take a TECEPÂ, you may retake the examination once. You will need to reregister and pay a new test fee after waiting at least three months after your original test date.

Failed TECEPÂ examinations cannot be reviewed after test administration, and test results cannot be released by phone, email or fax, in keeping with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

They approved the Saylor Corporate Communications as COM 373 Managerial Communication and originally they placed it as an upper level course in my area of concentration. However I had them move it to the General Education section. Its good to know I could use the SL COM 300 course if needed as my General ED and use the Saylor course as an upper level course.

Thank you again!

I don't know what areas you have already filled in your degree plan so I am offering blind advice. It's only my opinion, but I would use the Upper level courses in area of study, core requirements or business electives. I would not waste UL credit on general education.

Are your business electives filled? If not, try to transfer the corp communication course to that area. It's more specific and not as easy to fill as gen ed. The Business/Managerial communications slot is also filled by specific courses. It would actually be a better use of your time to take simple, easy to study for exams to fill the general education section.

Examples -
Aleks: Intermediate Algebra.
CLEP: A&I Lit, Social sciences & history, College Mathematics. (all are six credit exams)
DSST: Technical writing (could most likely take cold ater your communications courses), Lifespan psychology, Fundamentals of counseling, Anthopology. Intro to LE or Criminal justice (see note).
Note: Credit is given for either AOJ-101-DE or AOJ-102-DE but not both. DANTES

Any who, good luck in your studies!

Hello,

I am in need of either an Accounting Course(Not my favorite) or a Finance Course to fulfill my Area of Study at TESC BSBA-Gen Man. I see that the only courses remaining under the unofficial Penn Foster Course Equivalencies' list that I haven't already taken is Corporate Finance and Cost Accounting. I really need an easy course to fulfill this option as I am taking two classes this semester, I still need to complete an Intro to computing course, and I am applying for September Graduation by July 1st. HELP PLEASE!!! I have already made a decision to complete the DSST Intro to computing although if Penn Foster had an option for that course as well I would prefer that. Any help is so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!! P.S: I have met the 12 credits in 300/400 level courses.

Which equivalencies list? If you took Intermediate Acct 1? If so why would you need another accounting course. Why don't you list what you have in the GMS Req'd and Electives sections and i will then make a few recommendations?

BTW, take the DSSt Intro to Computing exam, it was very very easy!

You might also consider TECEP exams; both are multiple choice so quick grading if taken online and have received great feedback.
