Penn Foster 2nd degree

Does anyone know what the requirements for a 2nd degree are at Penn Foster? I've been looking on their website and can't find a whole lot of information.

Sorry. Just doesn't make sense in my mind to consider PF when there are reputable RA degrees available at affordable prices.

This would be after I get my RA degree. It looks like it would be cheaper to get my degree from Penn Foster than to take all the CJ courses at Penn Foster and transfer them back in to TESC.

So you are thinking about completing the BSBA with TESC first? Then the BA in Criminial Justice at Penn Foster?

Why not use the PPC tuition program to complete your BA in CJ degree at TESC using TECEPs to fill gen ed/free elective requirements. Then, for the second+ year(s), use the business TECEPs to fill the BSBA core and area of study. Still both degrees would be RA and affordable. Remember as long as you take at least one TECEP you're enrolled for the year.

I actually switched my degree again to BS Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness since I only have about 5 classes left for that one. TESC won't allow me to get the BA in CJ since they're too closely related. After I finish my BS-HSEP then I was going to move toward the BSBA-CIS with TESC. I wanted to take the CJ through PF just to get the education, but then started thinking why not just take the degree if I won't need a whole lot of extra credits for it. That and it will allow me to put a CJ degree on my resume.

Why do you want both? The CJ degree will be more flexible than the homeland security degree. Which state are you in? If you're in Texas, NA degrees are limiting in the CJ field.

I'm in Texas. I'm going for the BS HSEP because I only have 5 classes left, and while they are all actually classes through TESC, they are all very easy classes because I have a strong background in them and won't need to study near as much as other classes I would need for my other degrees. The reason I want a CJ is because several jobs specifically ask for a CJ degree, and I would just like to take classes such as victimology and criminology because I believe it will help in my professional growth. I figure since PF is such a good price I would take them there and thought I might as well grab an additional degree along the way if it wasn't too much out of my way. By no means is this a I really need to do this type of thing, just a if it's possible then why not.

I guess it won't matter as long as you're looking at jobs outside of law enforcement. There are a few disadvantages to having an NA degree in Texas: TCOLE will not give you credit towards higher levels of certification as a peace officer or jailer for having a degree, some agencies will not give you educational incentive pay (BCSO and SAPD are two that I've found), and some of the agencies that require college credits just to be hired will not accept them (Texas DPS).

Understood. Why not simply activate the AAS in CJ while completing the current BS in HSEP? If they feel the progams are close there should be enough current courses that can be applied to the associate's 21CR area of study, correct? Then just take criminology and victimology from PF while finishing up your remaining five classes and graduate with both degrees. If you were not aware, you can graduate with an associate's and bachelor's on the same conferral date for the one fee.

Once, complete, you can work your way through the BSBA taking advantage of the PPC tuition plan (if/when your current tuition plans ends).

I was just thinking that this wouldn't even apply to you anyway since you will already have RA degrees to qualify for law enforcement positions. Have you thought about just getting a master's in CJ? Do you really want 3 bachelor's degrees? If you don't mind having an NA degree, then Ashworth has a master's program in CJ and operates a lot like Penn Foster. However, they do charge $2800 per semester. You could probably find an RA school in Texas for that price.
