It was recommended to me by my TESC advisor to take an exam through Excelsior College for Microbiology.
Do I have to enroll, pay an application fee, pay a huge college fee, have transcripts evaluated...the whole 9 yards to get into Excelsior, just to take this exam? OR....is it possible to take this exam and have the results sent over to TESC?

I attended Excelsior College, but based on a cursory review of the web site, it looks like you just register, pay and take the test. I took one TECEP exam and it was the same over there. They actually have a 52 page PDF which would certainly answer any questions you may have available
here.

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to respond! How do you study for a RECEPTION for an obscure subject? I'd it like a CLEP EXAM? Need to take a Bio-Nutrition TECEP.

I suggest that you get the content review for the test off Excelsiors web site. I used Microbiology Demystified, and Cliff Notes. I passed with a C , but I just wanted to get it done. It was my last requirement to finish my nursing degree. You can also purchase the practice exams for$60 from Excelsior. It helps alot, there are 2 tests, and you can review them for 60 days. Tough test, but doable.

Are the exams at Excelsior multiple choice like CLEP? And do you know your results immediately?

Yes they are multiple choice, and they print you up grade sheet when you are done.
