Path Recommendation for 50 y.o. male in US
#41
On Friday I applied for the second fall term at UMPI for their "BA Business Administration with minors in Project Management and Information Systems"

https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/academic_p...anagement/

I Just finished the "Google IT Support Professional" [that took ~4 hours in total] and the "Google Project Management" courses on Coursera [~6 hours total]. Those should be worth 12 and 9 credits, respectively.

Looks like I'll have to pay Coursera the $40 to get the certificates though...

This means I should have 99 credits to transfer to UMPI, however that still leaves the 10 courses for residency requirements.

Those 10 UMPI courses are likely to be:

BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing
BUS 240: Change Management
BUS 244: Management Information Systems
BUS 245: Programming for Managers
BUS 440: Business Analytics

BUS 415: Operations Management
BUS 343: Project Risk and Cost Mgt.
BUS 345: Database Management
BUS 400: Project Management App.
BUS 469: Strategic Professional Comms

The first 5 courses are said to be "easy", the last 5, well, we'll see!

Unless anyone has any better suggestions?

Looks like a good plan.  You have come a long way.  Now it's time to finish everything up at UMPI.  GL.

Great stuff, PM & IS is a great concentration to go for, even though it's mainly business related and not IT related... You're doing great with a balanced mix/match trifecta of certs, degree, experience... Good luck with the remaining classes, did you get the academic evaluation back, the one with yellow highlights indicating remaining classes for the degree?

Just an update:

My BLS in Project Management with minors in Management of Information Systems and Project Management degree was conferred early March

For a recap:

- I joined this forum in 2014 and lurked until late December 2023 [yes, 9 years]
- Faffed about until late June 2024
- Completed my General Education requirements by July 28th, 2024 mostyl via Sophia / Google / Coursera
- Missed admissions for the first fall term at UMPI, started the Fall 2 session late September 2024
- Faffed about and ignored class work for about 3 weeks
- Finished all classes by February 1st, 2025

I'm now considering the MAOL

Awesome update and great work getting the final requirements completed! Congrats! It doesn't really matter that you faffed then and now, the main thing is, you've got this completed and now considering furthering your education with their MAOL. If you've taken any of the 3-4 classes that can go towards the MAOL for your BLS, you would be a class or two ahead when you start! Congrats again in regards to finishing the degree!
