Passing Straighterline Accounting I and II

As of March 2010, the following will save you a lot of frustration.

BEFORE taking each Straighterline Chapter Quiz, go to their online student learning center. http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/00...uiz_a.html

FIRST take the online multiple choice quiz that corresponds to the SL chapter and answer EVERY question. Next, PRINT OUT your online quiz results. If you have done this part correctly then a green check mark will appear next to the correct answer and a complete explanation for why the answer is correct will appear in bold, just below the answer. When you go to take the Straighterline chapter quiz, you will see the benefit of following this instruction.

In preperation for the (4) multi-chapter exams, have the book handy and be ready to utilize the GLOSSARY at the back of the book. Why the GLOSSARY? When a multiple choice question asks which answer is correct, 8 times out of 10, you can save yourself a lot of aggravation by heading straight to the glossary and looking up the definition of a particular term. If you were too cheap to buy the book, then utilize the online student learning center chapter glossary. You will have to go back and forth between chapters to find all of the glossary terms, but the end result should still be the same.

Utilizing these tips will prepare you to pass both Acct I and Acct II.

Buy the book that covers both Acct I and Acct II used (ISBN # 9780072996531) I paid $8.00 for one.

This is the reason that I posted the info. If you have the ability to print to a PDF, then you can organize the online chapter quizzes in a seperate folder and refer to them as needed. You should have the PRINTED or PDF online chapter quiz results in hand as you tackle the corresponding SL Chapter quiz.

I'm Curious to know what the the major differences are between the graded quiz verses the graded exam. I about to attack my first graded exam (3) and would certainly welcome the assistance of the master of the exams-universe..

1/2 of the exam will be a welcome relief....multiple choice questions that refer to defining terms (which is why I emphasize the GLOSSARY) ....the rest of the exam will be variations of the original quiz material, which is where the printed out quiz explanations will help...i.e. the answer might state "c is correct because a debit to this category will cause a credit to this category". In many cases, the questions posed on the exam will be similar enough to deduce the answer from the explanation given in the online chapter quiz. Not verbatim, but in many cases similar.

The exams are not gimmees, but overall they are easier than the quizzes. Remember that at 5 points each, it is worth taking your time to get the answer right.

Itook my first graded exam a couple of days ago and scored 115....not excellent, but if work with the law of averages, I am certain to pass.

Again, I just can't say enough about the quality of your feedback. I will try and complete all my exams by mid next week.

I will be dueling the 2nd graded exam later this after noon, so I hope it's the same in terms of the glossary being an effective tool as well.

Lets see if I can improve on my score.

Exactly right, work the averages and you will pass. If memory serves me right the third exam is a lot easier and the fourth is a bit of a bear, so doing well on one will offset the other. The Glossary is the great equalizer for all 4 exams.

Scored 110 on the 2nd exam...so right now my goal is to score over 100 on the 3rd exam and I will assure myself a place in the hallway of the successful attackers of this course.

I shall attempt the 3rd tomm (03/09/10) and as I have done on all the others, I will provide my progress report.
