$50 is absolutely worth it, even in the event you had failed it would be worth the practice attempt if you were planning on getting it in the future anyways

Totally agree. I took the previous version of the beta three years ago, cost was the same $50. I failed at that attempt, but I took it on a lark since I hadn't started studying pentesting at that point in time. I took it knowing I was going to fail, but just wanted to see what the exam was like.
