So today i took my first CLEP test, which i put off way too long. Last week i studied briefly for a handful of days and today passed A&I Literature with a 60!!
My initial feeling about this subject was not good. I heard everyone say this is the easiest to take from the get go, but i saw it as the most difficult, due to my way of thinking and interpreting things. I am in my early early 20's and my literary terms are not up to par, i took a few practice tests from petersons and CLEP and when i would read and analyze stories that went like
"thou hath haste why thee entered thy throne" my mind would just blank..
The real test was both easier and harder at times compared to the practice tests.
I couldn't tell you how nervous i was reading the last page "click proceed to view your score" yet after proceeding
I couldn't tell you how excited i was to see a 60!!
I just want to say thanks to Dcan, Rebel100, Lindagerr, and anyone else that helped push me to take this and/or gave me study resources.
Up next: Natural Science, College Algebra, and History. Which should conclude my AS at my CC 
Not sure where to start.. I'm sure there will be a post

haha I had an almost identical experience last week when I passed my first CLEP (US History II) with a 64

Congratz man! Glad your were able to pass a hard test for you. P.S. That feeling you get when you are at the report score screen? It doesnt go away XD. Ive got 60 college credits and Im still nervous each time I get to that page.

Congratulations. While I've never jumped out of a plane (what's with that anyway?), the moment before I click to submit the exam is like how it must feel to jump out of an airplane - even if it's a pale imitation.

Is there anything we could have said that would have worked to encourage you to take this exam any sooner? I am curious because I am trying to get someone else to go for it, but I am not sure what is causing the hesitation.

Well for me there were a lot of reasons why i put this test off, i started some posts back in January about A&I Lit, looking for suggestions and advice. So i put this test off for a good 3-4 months, within those months i picked up a second job, i have a volunteer job once a week, and i was taking a Biology course at my CC. In a way i felt my plate was pretty full. Semester ended a week and a half ago and that's when i jumped back on CLEP. What also caused hesitation for me, and maybe for your friend as well, is the fear of the unknown. Not knowing if i was going to pass, not knowing if i was ready, not knowing if i was cut out for the "CLEP program", $100 CLEP test is a ton cheaper than a full course, but for me that's still a little investment. But what did help was talking to a few people on here and them telling me it's normal to get off track and side tracked at times. It happens. Also i have a lot of drive going for my degree's and how much i need them and it's something i have to get done soon, so that helped push me. Lastly, I'm a pretty competitive person, so i figured i would challenge myself. I wrote down what i needed to accomplish as far as CLEP tests and FEMA courses, and gave myself deadlines.
Maybe your friend could relate to somethings i mentioned. This was just my own personal situation/reasons. This was my first test and im sure im gonna run across obstacles test after test. Which is why i am glad to have these forums full of supportive people
