Passed First CLEP!
#1
Hi All,

I'm Heather. I am new, but have been a forum lurker for a bit. I think instacert is amazing, and this board is a wonderful resource!.

I took and passed my first CLEP today, English Comp without the essay, with a 59. I wish I could have gotten a 60 or so, but I got what I needed for credit, and that is all that matters.

I have 30 credits from previous work, 12 credits I have either completed or am in the process of completing, and am looking to get at least 18 via CLEP

Coming up shortly are:

Bio
Social Science & History
and either History II or Intro to Psych.

I am in the process of getting a BA from AMU, but coming from a B&M school I got messed around with some of my gen. eds, so here I am. :-).

I felt so good today, getting 6 credits in less than 2 hours, it IS addicting!!

Congrats!! The first step is the hardest one. You'll have the rest of your credits before you know it.

Hi Heather-
Welcome. 6 credits in 2 hours, isn't it fun? Big Grin I passed Humanities today and also got 6 credits, thanks to IC and a couple of friends' help and support. Intro to Psych is a little easier to study for than History II unless you are a history buff, IMO.

Thanks to all for the posts!

I'm still not sure if I am going to go with History II or Psych...

(my school grants 6 History OR 6 SS for SS and History, and at the moment I need both since they aren't accepting IB exam results yet...grr)

I am kind of a history buff, but I passed my IB psych exam with a 6/7...

they said they will probably accept them next year... but well I am impatient. :p

Oh yea, as I said, I'm studying for bio too, and I found this which I thought might be cool to share:

Just wanted to add my welcome and congrats to the roar the of the crowd!

What a great feeling to pass that first CLEP. I will never forget it. It opened such a realm of possibility when I realized I could do this!

Enjoy your success. Celebrate it!

I've taken both US History exams as well as some of the psych type exams. It all depends on what you enjoy and retain the easiest. For me it was psych. (I took Ed psych, and Human Growth and Development, and Fundamentals of Counseling- lots of overlap in all of those! I used the intro to psych IC cards to study for those tests as well, even though I couldn't take the test, as I already had credits for a beginning psych course.

Cheers,

Congrats on passing Humanities!

Do you have any insights on passing Humanities? 6 credits is mighty appealing.
