Just wanted to share this info for anyone else considering this same test. I chose this particular test since I felt fairly comfortable with the majority of the subject matter (had some previous knowledge of most areas). With that being said, I only had time to study for approximately 1 week prior to the test date. I reviewed the IC Flashcards whenever I had the chance and also spent some time writing some of the info I learned into a notebook so I could review it when I wasn't near a computer. I also downloaded the mp3 recordings to my I-Pod and was able to listen to those when I was driving, out for a run etc.
This was the first time I'd used the mp3 component and really found it helpful. It really helped to reinforce what I already knew. I was a bit nervous on test day, as this was my first DSST test - I'd only taken a CLEP test before. Long story short: I passed with a 455 and completed the test in 45 minutes even tho' they allot a 2 hour time period.
I would say that 75% of the questions were very easy for me as they directly correlated to the material on the IC flashcards. Out of the remaining 25%, I'd say I was able to make an educated guess for 1/2 of them and I had no idea of the other 1/2. There were a total of 95 questions and I do not know how the minimum passing score of 400 is computed.
I would highly recommend this test to anyone that has some knowledge of health and definitely use the mp3 component if you can. I found it very liberating to still be able to study while I was running or driving.
