Order on Applying for Graduation - TESU
#1
Hello All,

As you can see in my signature I am "All Done" and I am ready to apply for September graduation. I have all the money I need I was able to borrow the rest I needed from family. I don't think the check will clear for a day or two so my question is would it be bad to Apply to Graduation today and then soon as the check is cleared call up and pay the residency waiver. I just don't know or think that my App will get auto rejected if it doesn't see the residency waiver or something. Either way I can't wait to get everything paid up and just have to wait for the audit letter to see if I am all set or not. I don't see why I wouldn't be everything looks 100% on my evaluation but we are talking about TESU so anything can happen. My reason for waiting to apply for graduation is I heard they do them in order received so the sooner I apply the sooner my audit is.

You need apply on or before July 1 for September graduation. I would wait until waiver is paid. The application first goes to the bursar to confirm student account is clear, then to the registrar.

Thomas Edison State University: Graduation Information

You have not met the residency requirement for your program.
Certain special enrollment programs (ex. MDCP and the Per Credit Tuition Plan) require students to earn a specific amount of credit through Thomas Edison State University. A note will be included on your evaluation if you have a residency requirement. If you have not met the residency for your enrollment plan, you can pay the Residency Waiver Fee to remove this requirement. The Residency Waiver Fee is to be paid by students if they do not intend to meet the academic residency requirements of the University; this fee does not apply to students enrolled under the Comprehensive Tuition Plan or in the Joint Degree Program with Rutgers School of Health Related Professions.
You have a financial balance on your account.
You must have a zero balance on your account to be certified for graduation. Please contact the Bursar’s Office before you apply for graduation to verify that your balance is zero. If you incur a balance after you have applied for graduation, it must be paid before you can be certified for graduation.

Okay, thanks I will hold off. Hopefully it clears in a day or two and then I can take care of this.

I submitted a ticket and they sent me a link specifically for the balance. Be sure to mention that you should pay the lower study.com waiver in the ticket request.

It's like you read my mind, I did e-mail them and about 10minutes ago the told me to tell them when I was ready to pay and they would send a link. I told them to go ahead and send it as the money cleared much sooner and yes I also included that I should be paying 1800 and not 2500 or whatever crazy amount it is now.

It is like the conflicting info never stops I just paid the residency waiver and this is what I got back after.

We have solved your issue
Dear Mr. Synicaal,

I have updated your account to reflect your payment and the Residency Waiver Fee will be good for one year until 06/15/18.

Have a good day.

Ok, now you've confused me, how is this a conflict?? I thought the waiver was for the enrollment term of one year. It has been discussed on the forum quite a bit. Had something changed?

Oh yes, it's quite a conflict. So far, people have been told:
1) It's good forever (this was the first answer after the RW went into effect)
2) It's good for 1 year (this was the next thing people were told for quite a few months)
3) It's good for 1 degree only (even if you get an AA/AS, it won't cover the BA/BS that you're also going for) - this has been the last few months

Now it seems we're back to #2, as this is the 2nd person who has confirmed that the bursar's office is telling people this (in writing).

Consider this a dumb question, but has it been the bursar giving out different answers - or some usually clueless expressline rep? The bursar is the one who handles this type of thing.
