About 14 years ago I took classes below at a community college and have a few questions:
1. Does anyone know offhand if Excelsior has an "expiration" date for class transfers from another college?
2. Do the below look like they'd be transferable to Excelsior's business or liberal arts bachelor's?
3. I'm currently taking the classes listed below at a local community college, but need to drop Astronomy and add something else by Tuesday.
I'm CLEP testing out of Natural Sciences and Math. Can anyone recommend (general/elective) "type" of class that would likely transfer to Excelsior?
There is another art class open that I can drop Astronomy for, but two art classes, will they both be counted as an elective at Excelsior for business or lib arts?
I won't be enrolling at Excelsior for a bit, should I pay for their assessment now, or does someone have an educated guess about any of the above? Flood of questions I know, but would appreciate any tips. please discuss!

Excelsior took my old classes. I think the only ones they didn't say they would take would be IT courses and nursing courses.

The first 4 classes should count as social science and the other three should count as humanities. The liberal studies degree at Excelsior is very flexible with everything except Freshman Composition. They are sticklers about a two semester composition sequence.
You should have a look at this document if you plan to test out of credits at Excelsior. Be sure to read it to the end, because it covers just about all of the exams (CLEP, DSST, and UExcel).

As for dropping Astronomy and taking another art class, the art class should count toward the minimum of 60 credits in arts and science you would need for the business or the liberal arts degree. Just keep in mind that for the BS in General Business degree, you will need a minimum of 9 hours in math and science, 6 of which must be Precalulus (or higher) and Statistics. CLEP Natural Science and CLEP College Math will still fulfill general arts and science requirements, though, and you can use ALEKS for PreCal and Stats.
For comparison purposes, the BPS in Business and Management asks for 3 hours of College Algebra or Stats (could be from ALEKS), 3 hours of math elective (ALEKS Beginning Algebra would work, as well as CLEP College Math) and 3 hours of science. The BS or BA in Liberal Arts math and science requirements would be fulfilled (+3) by the 2 CLEPs you mention. Also, the DSST Environment and Humanity is considered a very manageable 3 science credits around here.
The credits you mention so far would work toward just about any degree plan at any of the Big 3.

EC took most of my classes that were over 26 years old! They should transfer in as social science and humanities. I'm not sure, but you may have to add another semester of ENG comp. Make sure you provide them with a catalog from your school that shows the course outline and credit awarded, sometimes they can't find older catalogs and they will disallow the credit. Make sure you have a plan to dispute anything they may disallow.

Ok, so having two three credit art classes will for sure be applicable to a business or liberal arts bachelor's at Excelsior.

I don't plan on testing out of English, but what you're saying is they require courses only, theirs or another schools and will not allow CLEP college composition? This semester I'm in English 1a and next I'll do the last.
Appreciate you all chiming in. I hadn't come across the other tests, thanks for the link too.

Yes.

To fulfill the English Composition II requirement for Excelsior, you need either an actual "in-seat" class from a college/ university, or the Straighterline English Comp II class, or the UExcel English Composition exam ($440 for 6 hours, Comp I and II). Excelsior does not accept the CLEP Comp exam. TESC and COSC do accept the CLEP, though.

Thank you.
In the spirit of giving back I've noticed that Quizlet.com has many CLEP, DSST, etc, member made test preps that you can add in an ipad app like flashcards deluxe (or looks like Quizlet has a flashcard app too). Then you can memorize with spaced repetition. The quality seems to vary, though there are some decent ones. I'm sure you can add quizlet flashcards to an Android flashcard app as well.
Their site is shutting off ability to add to third-party apps the 9th of this month so jump in there quick if this is of interest to anyone. Cheers
