Open Edx - Self or Fully Managed options
#1
Hmm, just found out Edx had an open edx platform that can be "self managed".  I always thought it was fully managed by MIT/Harvard or whatever schools & providers they work with.

Anyways, this may be an alternative Learning Management System for some smaller schools or schools starting out... and then there are the other players out there such as Moodle, etc...

Moodle isn't perfect, but it's easier to administer, and there are third party hosting companies that specialize in it for institutions that want to outsource.

What's really disappointing is that once upon a time EdX said they were going to have an instance of OpenEdX at MOOC.org that anyone could use, but then they backtracked.

As a consumer, I'm not super impressed with the current state of EdX. Coursera seems to have more valuable offerings that are also easier to use.
