After 7 years my wife is one class short of her AA. As I have come a long ways with my online courses in such a short period of time, she is curious if any of the big 3 have a BA program with child development as a focus? Her career goal is to be a teacher (much as I try to dissuade that field.)

First, why would you dissuade her from that goal? Second, have you checked to make sure that a BA in Child Development will lead to a teaching credential? I didn't think that it necessarily did, but I could be wrong - I think it depends on the state.
I would encourage her to look at some different programs (WGU is one, depending on your state) where she can actually complete her BA and get her teaching credential.
Nothing to lose in doing the research.

To echo the above;
Tennessee is peculiar in its requirements. You might want to check and see what your state accepts for a teaching certificate. To expand, there is even federal money available for certain teaching areas; they pay for your education and you promise to teach it for X number of years, or something along those lines.

Have her complete liberal studies degree it's better for teaching child development is more for an early child education teacher. Grades prek-3. I'm in ca I substitute Teach but have my credential for preschool here I didn't need a degree just 12 units of child development. If she wants to Teach she will need to pass the state tests plus BA degree and Teacher prep program. If she wants to Teach High School a specific degree in the subject she wishes to teach is better

I agree. Child development is not meant for K-12.

Yeah, I thought that was a strange degree when wanting to become a credentialed teacher.

I looked at WGU but found it better to do a BA and then get a teaching certificate. MEds are frowned upon without teaching experience here as they have higher salaries and no experience. Teacherready is a program as well as https://www.americanboard.org/. I looked at WGU but the student teaching was not well organized in my area. It was also more money and hours than a certification program.

Once you have some teaching experience, you could always consider the M.Ed from UoPeople. Assuming, of course, that your district(s) are okay with Nationally Accredited master's degrees.

Just really depends on what state you live in, what programs are available there and at what price, and a host of other things. You can get a post-bacc teaching credential w/o getting a master's degree.

“Begin with the end in mind....”
Step 1 - Check with your state. The state agency that issues teaching credentials likely has specific requirements. My state has a searchable database online where you enter what one wants to teach and it gives you acceptable programs.
Step 2 - Refer to step 1.
Not trying to be snarky, but without knowing your state and what she wants to teach, it’s not appropriate to recommend schools or programs.
