Online Physics Lab
#1
Does anybody know of an online school that offers just the lab portion for Physics 1 and 2?

I think you can just do the labs through Straighterline. There is also the possibility of using Clovis Community College. If I remember correctly when I looked there they have just labs, although you might have to prove you have taken the classes.

This has to be from a college. My friend who is a bored PharmD at the age of 26 wants to go to medical school to become a M.D. She has taken physics but needs the lab to go with it.

She took physics 1 AND 2 without lab? Within the past 5 years? I'm guessing she took an intro to physics, which won't count as her prereq. She needs general physics 1 and 2 within the past 5 years, she might have to take the whole series. I'd also suggest UNE. She can do it online, and unless she's applying to a school that has a policy AGAINST online sciences, they'll be fine.

She took Physics 1 & 2 without lab for the Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. It doesn't look like lab is required there.

According to the AAMC, most medical schools that answered a survey about online courses said they do not accept online science courses. https://www.aamc.org/download/277172/dat...isites.pdf

No online science prerequisites at UTSA The University of Texas Health Science Center - School of Medicine

No online science courses at Morehouse Admissions Requirements

Just because some medical schools do not object to online courses does not mean online science courses are okay. Taking your money for your application is one thing. Admitting you is another thing entirely. Online science courses are likely to be viewed less favorably than brick and mortar science courses. Medical schools have plenty of applications from people who made a 4.0 in science courses at universities with good reputations.

This forum is biased in favor of online courses. Medical schools are biased against online courses.

Does anyone have specific evidence of someone getting admitted to medical school with online science courses?

Not medical school, but for example my wife's nursing school told her they do not accept online labs, but she took them anyway and the school accepted them. The school doesn't know they are online because it doesn't reflect that on the transcript. In fact, I'm pretty sure all of her science classes were online except for one. I agree medical school frowns upon online labs.

TESC offers the Lab-only courses. Not cheap though. And in addition to the course fee, you have to buy the lab kit for $120 (which is strange, because the course says 6 labs in 6 weeks, while the kit says 11 labs). Not sure how that's supposed to work. If you find any less expensive labs, please post!
