One more CIS credit at TESC
#1
Hello everyone,

I just found out I am missing one CIS elective credit and I need to find a fast way to get it. Anyone have any recommendations? I can't take DSST or CLEP tests. Maybe a Penn Foster course that has been accepted?

Here are a couple of threads that may help:

A couple of months ago, I made a list of all of the Penn Foster courses that are still ACE-approved. IIRC, Intro to Programming and Computer Applications are the only IT courses that are still ACE-approved.

Have you taken the TECEP networking technology? You just need to find a local proctor and they'll ship the test out to them.

If you organization subscribes to skillsoft (the Air Force is one), they have courses that count for ACE credit. as low as 1 credit.
CLEPS Passed: 10 DSST Passed: 11 TECEPS: 1

PrLoko-isms
Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Only problem with the skillsoft is it requires an ACE approved proctor and I'm not in a location where I can get access to one.

Anyone get the Computer Applications course from penn foster to transfer to TESC? If so, what level did it transfer at? I was told I cannot use 100 level classes for the CIS Electives

Just in case no one answers, this might help from the PLA database.

Quote:Computer Concepts and Applications (CIS-107) 3.00 s.h.
Computer Concepts and Applications provides an overview of computers, focusing on historical development; hardware; application software; communications; Internet use; how to purchase, install, and maintain a computer; information systems; system analysis and design; programming; careers in the computer field; security, ethics, and privacy issues; and multimedia. The "laboratory" portion of the course features the use of Microsoft Office and Windows.
