When valuable information is shared freely, expect that someone will monetize it. Several other companies have already monetized the collective information on this forum that comes from hundreds of members' legwork, so it's really a game of who can do it first and advertise it best. Just remember that, every time you share something that you've found, you are making someone else money.

Somehow, most of these companies manage to offer actual college credits or study materials that lead to college credits for much less. Other forums that aren't tied to a subscription service just run ads.

There are lots of free sources available online however there is a time factor of trying to aggregate that content to make it useful for your purposes.

This is why I bought the IC flashcards since I thought if it would save me one hour of time, it would be useful to me.  

There are people willing to stand in line for hours Black Friday morning in order to save $20 on something.  So it's a matter of how much you value time.  At least that is one way to look at it.  my 2cents.

This is fantastic, congratulations!

Personally, I don't see any issue with it. People can do this for free if they choose. Paying money just takes less time of combing through so many forum posts and helps alleviate the learning curve. One thing I would recommend though is to offer a few scholarships per year to those who can't afford the service but really need the help. I am thinking social enterprises again, but maybe increase general costs just slightly to do this. Otherwise, it gives more advantage to those who have money while those without continue to struggle. Seriously though, this is a needed service!

I don't give anyone a pass. Jay Cross was criticized for charging $500 to give people info that's on this forum. Unbound, formerly known as CollegePlus, was criticized for sending customers here. These three are charging over $1,000 to reshare information they gather from here and their homeschooling community. I was under the impression that the masterclass was supposed to teach parents how to do this. Why would they need a masterclass and private coaching bundle for nearly $1,500? At least Unbound includes 10 ACE-approved courses per year.

These businesses have proven that your knowledge is worth money. Probably less than 1% of their posts contain information they found themselves. They stay here to get up to date info for their books and TJ Maxx version of Unbound. Charge them $20 for exam feedback, $30 for equivalencies for new courses, $40 for new colleges and degree programs discovered, and $50 for new ACE/NCCRS sources discovered. They are not giving you a cut. Stop providing them with free information that they'll use to enrich themselves and avoid working full-time jobs like everyone else. If they're charging, then you should be charging, too.

One of them just asked for feedback on a new exam. Let her or one of her kids take it. She's charging thousands; she can afford to lose $100. This is her job; she should be finding out this information. It's what she's paid to do.

I don't think you understand the program, but your criticisms are always good entertainment none the less.

I will say l like how your program isn't all about the big 3. I don't think just a one and done degree from the big 3 the best option for a lot of high schoolers. Just because you can get your degree at 18 doesn't mean you should. And what good does it do if an 18-year-old has a general liberal studies bachelors but no work experience, direction or common sense? Plus once they get their first bachelors it makes it so you can't get aid for a second degree. When one is young and not tied down with marriage, career, kids, etc there are other ways to get a bachelor's degree with little/no debt besides going the alt credit way at the big 3.

My dad is a small business owner. I feel like the degree planning masterclass, the other homeschool ones that just sell clep plans, unbound/lumerit, jay cross and any others are valid. They have the right to exist just as much as this fourm. Does that mean people will buy them? not excactly. Does that mean I will buy them? no I won't. But I don't see a problem with people trying to find ways to make money and share their knowledge.

I like the idea of the course from what I can see because unlike jay cross or that other homeschool one is it actually provides information that doesn't just come from a google search.

How did you decide to use thinkific.com over teachable.com? I have compared both teaching course platforms and they seem very similar. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on how you chose the course platform.

Actually Jay Cross was mostly criticised for giving outdated info and not bothering to support his clients, not because he was charging.
