Objective 5E
#1
The website lists (for objective 5E) POS 101 - American Government, POS 211 - Intro to Pol Thought, and POS 332 - Constitutional Law as options for completion of this objective.

What's the likelihood of UMPI accepting a State Government course for this objective? It kind of seems that they want a federally-focused course here, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Course Description:

GOVT 2306 Texas Government 3-0-3
Origin and development of the Texas constitution, structure and powers of state and local government, federalism and inter-governmental relations, political participation, the election process, public policy, and the political culture of Texas.

I don't see them accepting a class on Texas government for 5E. American Government is a VERY easy class at UMPI. Many of us have completed it in 3 days and earned an A.

That's kind of what I figured. I'm glad to hear that it's quick at UMPI, so I guess I'll do it there. I just figured I'd ask about the state gov course since I already have it. Thanks for your reply.

I think it's unlikely they accept that course. That said, if you decide to fill the requirement at UMPI rather than through one of the ACE sites, I'd strongly suggest you do it with Con Law rather than one of the longer survey courses.

American Government is a 3 page paper that can be written in a couple of hours. Seriously the class can be 100% completed in 3 days or less.

Hmm, the more I read, the more I think UMPI coursers are "easy", just like Sophia.org... Maybe a tad too easy, for general education courses, it won't really matter, but for the Area of Study or Concentration, most of the courses aren't as easy/fast as these - which is what it should be for competency based education, the assessments/assignments really play into "gauging" how the student performs.

American Government is probably the easiest and shortest class - course content wise - at UMPI. It really can easily be read in a few hours. The Final Assessment is a 3 page paper that is REALLY easy to write and doesn't require a ton of research. The professor who teaches the course sends back rough drafts within 2 days. He sent all of my papers back in less than 12 hours. Other classes are not this easy or short. I can tell you that the marketing courses are about 20 times longer and the papers are significantly more difficult as the shortest one is a minimum of 10 pages with several being 15+ as the minimum. They require a ton of research and citations. Financial Management was another class that is long - content wise. Sooooooo much content in that course. The final exam was the most difficult next to Project Risk and Cost Management. This course was also very long and challenging because risk is complicated. Most of us don't have a great deal of experience in risk management.
