The matter may or may not have "eternal consequences," depending on your beliefs/lack thereof.
Did anyone ever see the whole cospiracy thing about Nikola Tesla's super-weapon thing that could rumble the ground and cause earthquakes, or manipulate the magnetic spectrum or used some kind of condensed energy to fry electronics around the world? And that as soon as he died, all his technology and personal effects "disappeared," or were appropriated by the government? That guy was awesome, even if these weapons are indeed made-up.

LOL I love Badass of the Week, but I wasn't too sure about using it as an official reference source to back up my crazy claims... Although, most of what the guy writes is factual and relatively well-researched, even if it's usually dripping with sarcasm and riddled with profanity and comical exaggerations.

In our modern society, that is how people are taught to think, that everyone can believe the same thing and they can all be true. However, truth can not be relative. Because one does not believe gravity exists does not change the fact that it does. The whole world could deny its existence, but it does not make it true. Likewise, because people have differing views on the topic of God does not mean that one way isn't correct and that there are eternal consequences. Whether you believe in gravity, it's consequences are present.

I'm in no way contradicting Publius, but I would like to point out that a person may or may not attribute those consequences to eternity. A person can see a situation and draw a set of conclusions, erroneous or otherwise, about how that situation came about.

It's those erroneous conclusions that will be a major reason for them not expecting the consequences that they'll experience.

Publius, I think the poster before was asking for a little tolerance towards non-believers. Is it really necessary to imply that if he doesn't believe, he'll have to pay consequences? I think it's a little brusque to assume the existence of god, let alone religion, in such an offhand comment. Isn't the world about tolerance, and accepting what others believe?

No, I don't think that poster has to "pay" consequences. Things simply happen, and things happen for a cause. What you think is the cause is totally up to you. Let's tolerate Publius's and everyone else's opinion on what the causes are, but to each his own interpretation. At least that's my $0.02!

What do you mean by tolerance? Don't worry, radical Christians pray for the unbelievers, we don't blow them up.
I'm understanding of where people are coming and where they are. I also care about where they're going. That's why I'm willing to speak up. This life is short and it's worthwhile to discuss matters that pertain to eternity.
BTW, please don't take anything I say as harsh or mean. I don't intend it to be taken that way and communication via written form over the internet has a tendency to misconstrue meaning and interpretation.
