Not Just Free, CompTIA will PAY you a $200 Amazon gift card to take their latest beta

CompTIA is looking for Beta Testers for their new Data+ exam. It's free to sign up and if they pick you, you'll get a $200 Amazon gift card(mine arrived about a month later). Also, when they release the full exam Q1 next year, people who scored above the cut off will be automatically certified. My take on it is if you've done a statistics course or 2 and a database course, you have a good chance with this one. Plenty of free materials out there to brush up on those topics too.

Awesome, I'll throw my hat in the ring.

Been a while since I've done any type of work in this world, but if they pick my name I'll do some cramming and hope for the best. Nothing to lose.

MNomadic, thanks for sharing this, just got my "PASS" notification finally!

A certification I didn't need and wasn't exactly prepared for, but hey I'll take it.

Passed as well, Yay!

If you are curious what your score was, I was able to find it by logging into the CompTIA account, if you click "My Exams" you can view your score reports from the "View score reports" link under "My account" on the dashboard page.

Doesn't look like the badges is on credly yet.

Awesome! I passed too and was thinking of posting about it but didn't know if anyone here took it or remembered.

Not sure when we'll get credly badges since the full cert doesn't launch until Feb 28.

I'm a little bummed that our cert date is backdated to July since it's not a Good For Life cert, but eh, I was paid for it.

FYI for all the newly CompTIA Data+ certified individuals here(or those that plan to pursue the cert):

  • The cert itself requires renewal every 3 years (20 CEUs)
  • CompTIA counts ACE credit for CEUs "You can earn 10 CEUs for each 3 to 4 credit-hour class."
  • I believe any one of the Google Data AnalyticsIBM Data Analyst, or IBM Data Science certs should meet that requirement
  • The CompTIA site now has a separate category for Data and Analytics(and it only contains DATA+) so I suspect that they plan to develop additional(more advanced) certs in those categories
  • Data+ listing on CompTIA for more details

I took CompTIA A+ back in 2008 and it caused me to have account issues and I wasn't able to take advantage of this offer. I might have been able to resolve it if I had waited on hold for longer than the 30 minutes I attempted to to resolve this.

(Not sure why I'm posting, just this reminded me of my frustration and I wanted to vent.)
