Maybe some of the other courses you took (the worthless ones Smile can be transferred via ACE?

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

No, I was just curious as to the school itself and then as a related question - has Brown College had any of their courses ACE reviewed? If so, then they may be acceptable for credit.

Is the issue that your college is nationally accredited (NA) rather then regionally accredited (RA) ? If yes, there is an appeal process at Excelsior- see below- that might allow you to transfer in a certain number ( I think it might be 30) of NA credits.

In accordance with Excelsior College policies and procedures, students may appeal for consideration of degree-level credit from non-regionally accredited schools by Excelsior College faculty.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for your replies!

ShotoJuku & GoodYellowDogs: I will have to check into the ACE thing. Not even sure what it is! I'm so new to this and there is so much to learn.

Peace: I love the idea that Excelsior will actually let you appeal. It's terrible to think I earned 90 credits + all my years as a designer and not have it be worth anything towards a degree! Even though it's NA accredited... I really did learn a lot there and it was as much work as when I went to CSUB... just most of it was art, advertising and design related!

Alleycat: Thank you for the info about Charter Oak and TESC. I will look into the Art degrees from both.

Marianne: I have to say that is amazing... going from no degree to 3 degrees in 16 months! Good for you! And, I'm sure you worked very hard! I will be 39 in a few days, so I'm glad to hear others in my age group are earning their degrees... it really makes me realize that it's never too late, especially when I keep telling myself, "Ahhh forget it, you're too old anyway!"

The one thing I keep stressing about while trying to figure out where I might go and what I might major in is:
Am I missing deadlines for fall or any deadlines??? This question is driving me crazy!

And one other question:
If I choose a degree like Liberal Arts, can I then go on and get a masters in something else that might be more specific (for instance, Art or Literature)? Does anyone do this as a means to get the bachelor's out of the way to then earn a higher degree in what they really want it in?

Thanks!

Yes you can. Some Masters have pre requ"s to complete. But in art if you have classes and a strong portfolio you should be able to. A friend of mine just completed her degree in Psy and she is in a MFA for photography now. She was flopping around from degree to degree and she just desided to go back to her original degree and just get it done. Now she is getting her MFA.

Taking exams to complete a degree is pretty much on your own schedule (and that of the testing center).

Excelsior confers degrees monthly. (After you complete your degree, it will be conferred 2-3 months later.) Plus it takes some time to submit transcripts, apply, enroll, and have credits evaluated for a degree.

If you need to take any classes, there will be a deadline for signing up for those at any college.

Applying to graduate school has deadlines, too.

I hope this answers your question.
