Welcome.

1) Find out your school's CLEP policy (what exams they take, how many tests they'll take, etc.)
2) Out of the available tests, pick one that you have some knowledge or interest in (for starters this is good). Lots of people take Analyzing and Interpreting Literature as a first test.
3) Start studying. Pick up an REA guide, read it, go through the Instacert flashcards a couple times, check out the specific exam feedback section (you have to be a subscriber to access it), and take as many practice tests as possible (there's some in the REA guide).
4) Take the test.

You may want to check out Free-CLEP-Prep.com as it's a great resource.

Good Luck!

Thank you. Do you have any knowledge on the Chemistry CLEP? Or the statistics CLEP?

Sure thing.

Chemistry CLEP, no. I've taken the Biology though. Best thing I'd recommend is going through the Specific Exam Feedback and seeing what other folks have recommended.
The Statistics is actually a DSST and it's a really good one to take if you're not scared to death of the stuff. Not saying you have to love it, but if you have a grasp on some stuff it's not all that hard. They don't advanced, it's all basic statistics. Unlike the CLEPs and many DSSTs the Statistics DSST is one of the revised exams and as such is on a different scoring system. You only need 42-46 to pass (according the ACE, your school may require higher). See this link: http://www.dantes.doded.mil/Sub%20Pages/...s_1230.pdf

The official CLEP info for Chemistry can be found here: Chemistry | CLEP
The official DSST fact sheet for Statics can be found here: http://www.getcollegecredit.com/images/u...080509.pdf

I'd really recommend using the IC cards for these exams. I know they worked well for Biology and extremely well for Stats.

JLRS, Publius gave great info.

Here is a little info on what I found out when looking into the CLEP/DSST option. It was only 5 months ago that I was asking the same question as you.

Something to consider when looking your school's particular policy is that most B&M schools have their CLEP/DSST policy buried somewhere in the course catalog. If you cant seem to find it, look for "Credit by examination" or something like that. Don't be surprised if you need to read the policy multiple times AND have to ask an adviser at your school for clarification. I was previously enrolled in a B&M school in which the policy was REALLY confusing (the adviser needed to ask department heads for clarification when I asked about exams and could never give me an answer right way) but it came down to basically I can test out of anything not specified in the degree. So, in my case going for a Business degree none of the business related tests were accepted. If I needed extra electives, it wasn't a problem.

I transferred to one of the "Big Three" mentioned on this forum just so I could use more of the tests. After all, I am only looking for a Business degree and they all offer it.

From my own experience, my subscription to InstantCert and the "Specific exam feedback" section of this forum pointed me in the right direction for 11 passed tests so far. If you haven't signed up, I would really encourage it.

Good luck!
