What have I done! Bio 105
#11
Great stuff, good to see you finish the harder or lengthy class at UMPI... I would have gone the other way around and take the loss as I mentioned earlier, but, each person does things differently... You do you, continue onwards and upwards until you've got the remaining classes complete! Good luck, continue to have fun with what is head, hope it's all smooth sailing here on out...

Thank you! I decided to use it as a buffer class... work through as many History classes as was sanely possible and then use the Bio 105 as a "well it's not an essay" class. lol

I have finished Bio 105! Some of the milestones were tough. But overall after the Owl Pellet dissection everything else went okay. (I have a weak stomach but got through the owl pellet just fine.) I decided to stick it out because I work in a high school and have pushed in Biology class many times, so it wasn't like I had no prior knowledge.

Good for you! And good luck going forward. Maybe you can post some insights and tips for anyone else brave enough to take biology with UMPI yourpace in the future.

Sure, no problem. I think the easiest advice is to not panic. The nature walk/owl pellet lab looked so very scary, but the grading was more than fair. I mean, it's not like we all have fancy cameras and camouflage to hide in the bushes for hours to get one good shot of a bird, ya know? The other milestones aren't so bad, but if you get stuck or think you might get stuck, you can email the instructor. I found the instructor to be very understanding.

As far as the quizzes, take notes or download/print the material and highlight it. Read the question carefully as there are a few "trick questions" if you are reading them too fast. **I have an iPad and Apple Pencil so I could download and highlight stuff/make notes without a printer. Also... some questions have multiple answers but don't state so in the question (something I'm very used to seeing in that the question will state there are multiple answers) so pay attention to that.

Don't fear working ahead if you are waiting on a response from a milestone. Some sections had quizzes, not milestones. I made the mistake of not understanding that I hadn't passed a quiz and was stuck, I thought I was stuck because of the milestone. But it was the quiz, as I hadn't passed because I didn't realize the warning posted that some questions have multiple answers.
