Why would an average person know or need to know anything about blood pressure numbers?

To stay alive. They don't call it "the silent killer" for nothing! Check it - regularly. Everyone should be clued in as to what the numbers mean. I learned what they meant from the BBC (English Radio) when I was about 8 years old. About 4 years later, they taught me that again in health class, here in Canada.

That health lesson was 59 years ago, so with a little math you know I've made it to 71 and I thank my Maker for my good health, daily. And yes - I watch my blood pressure. It's good to know this stuff - bad, even fatal, not to know.

BTW I have not seen this documentary so I am not sure what you are trying to say. I work with mentally disabled and autisum spectrum children (and I have a 26 yr old one) so I will have to watch and see if I agree with your assessment.

The interviewees seemed to hyperfocus. I know this is a common symptom of ADHD and autism.

If anything I would say paranoid schizophrenia would be my diagnosis, not any sort of autism. That's just my .02.

This could be the case with a couple of them who seemed to have disorganized thoughts. Other possibilities could be some of the personality disorders: paranoid, schizoid, and schizotypal.
