I am kind of ambivalent about the HES debate.  I do know that the twenty graduate English credit hours that I finished there cost about $1250, which was cheaper than anywhere else that I could find.

I don't think that an online HES class is as good as an in-seat class at Harvard College.  I think that being surrounded by amazing people on a daily basis is its own thing.  However, I also think that people on this forum are amazing and we really do help each other out.

The really cool thing that HES is doing right now is pricing their courses at levels that working people can afford.  The poetry classes, scholarships and affordable certificates are really great.  I will shout Harvard Extension to the rooftops if the price is right.

Do the poetry or MicroMasters classes count toward gaining admission?

The poetry courses are straight-up extension classes. For the English master's degree, the "earn your way in" option requires two English courses and a proseminar, so the poetry courses can be used for the two English courses.

The five poetry classes now cost $1,000. That's $5,000. The additional seven courses in the English concentration master's degree would probably cost $21,000 at $3,000 a pop. That's roughly $26,000 total. That's not the cheapest price for a master's degree, but it is pretty good. It would cost me about $23,000 because I took the poetry classes at the cheap price. I already have a master's degree, so it is not worth it to me, but it is a pretty good deal.

I only really looked at the English-related degrees. They all have some kind of "earn your way in" process. Some seem to have some electives in the process. The more technical degrees seem to be all in on the subject area, which makes sense. The English concentration degree can take all five of the inexpensive poetry classes, leaving 7 full-priced classes. If a person received the scholarship, it would be an excellent deal.

Is this the CORe program you're talking about? It looks like you get a pretty big scholarship if you're a current Pell Grant recipient bringing the cost down to $450. Military members pay $900, and current graduate students pay $1575. Full price is $2250, but that's still better than paying $5680 for two graduate courses.

Where is the price $400 for the CORE program?

Sorry, I should have clarified. The $450 price is for students who receive Pell Grant. It looks like its bumped up to $450 since I took the program last year. The sticker price of $3680 is absurd for what it is, a well-run MOOC. The program definitely isn't worth that much if you're just looking to learn the material or boost your resume. The people taking the program are either those looking to get into the ALM program or foreigners looking to pad their LinkedIn by saying they "went to Harvard." I ran into a handful of pre-HBS students who did their undergrad in other fields, but these students are a very tiny minority.

I can't find that MicroMasters program.

The ALM Finance program requires you to take the Statistics and Data Science Micromasters as the alternative pathway to admission. https://www.extension.harvard.edu/academ...am-pathway

The ALM Management program uses the Supply Chain Management Micromasters for its alternative pathway.

All of the Micromasters Pathways reduce your required courseload from 12 classes to 8.

So, the job doesn't require a degree?

It does require a degree. An undergrad, which fortunately I have from COSC thanks to this forum! The fact that I'm currently pursuing English grad studies is viewed as additional value to the potential employer, and relevant to the job description. And once again.... I found out about the affordable English grad studies and started taking them due to this forum! I owe this forum a great deal of gratitude!

Hmmm both the ALM in Finance and Management seem interesting...some nice courses...

I'm more inclined to going with the Management program....
