New TESU Residency Requirement!!! 16cr, TECEP's do not count?!?
laughter Wrote:Just to clarify, if I register for a May 2016 term TECEP before April 16, I am allowed to take it anytime between May - July and it will count towards my residency requirement, is that correct? Or must I complete it in the month of May? I was enrolled prior to 1/4.

I emailed and asked my advisor this same question. She said that as long as the TECEPs are taken anytime within the April or May term, they will count towards your residency requirements.

This is what concerns me... the advising department is telling me yes, but the registrar department is saying no. :/ Considering that the registrar has the final say, I've sent another ticket and am waiting for their clarification.

Let me know what you find out please.

I think that depends on if you were enrolled or not, per what TESU is listing on the academic evaluations.
"For students enrolled in the Per Credit Tuition Plan at Thomas Edison State University PRIOR to April 1, 2016, credit earned via TECEP and Prior Learning Assessment can be used to satisfy the residency requirement as long as it is earned as of or before the May 2016 term. For students who enroll in the Per Credit Tuition Plan as of April 1, 2016 or after, only Online, Guided Study or e-Pack credit satisfies the residency requirement."
I just read all of the pages... & now the plot thickens for me. I am enrolled under the 2014 catalogue Pay Per Credit Plan. I already have fulfilled all of my degree requirements, but my academic eval still shows 115.67 while waiting for my ACE transcript credits to show up. I've passed 4 TECEPS plus the Capstone (15 TESU credits total), but am currently signed up to take 3 TECEPS during the April term. If I am reading all these pages correctly my residency requirement just dropped from 24 to 16, meaning I am just 1 credit short but signed up for 9 credits this term (TECEPS: Marketing, Sales Management, Marriage & Family)... I wonder what the chances would be of getting a refund on un-necessary TECEPS? Maybe even requesting to switch to the 1 cr Medical Terminology TECEP?

I think you can withdraw and get a 75% refund at this point. But that might be just for regular classes not TECEPs. You might call and ask?

totally worth a call Smile ... how exciting that you're so close.

If you get a refund too, I will do an air punch and whoooop loudly!

If I talked to my academic advisor and I have in an email form, proof that she said that my TECEPs will count toward my residency requirement if I take them in the April and May term, do I need to talk to the registrar or would that email hold up if I have to send a complaint to TESU later?

Don't get a refund and then subsequently fail one of the TECEPs, or otherwise find out that you shouldn't have dropped the TECEP. The May term is the last chance to enroll, so there won't be an opportunity to undo the drop in two weeks. If you are on the old residency plan, is it still 24? I have no idea. I would be 110% sure before initiating a drop/refund.

If I were you, I would take 1 TECEP early, make sure I passed it (take the one that's easiest for you), and then get in writing that you're done with your residency and 100% ready for graduation.

With $2000 on the line, I wouldn't take the chance that you fail the TECEP. That's too big a chance in my estimation. It's only $200 that you're out if you end up not needing the extra TECEP's.

So they redirected my ticket to the Learner Support Centre...
"The new clarification is that any student using the Per Credit Tuition Plan (PCTP) who registers for a TECEP or PLA for the May 2016 term will have those credits counted towards their residency requirement."

+1 Yes, now that I have proofs from the LSC and the Advising department that all May term TECEP credits will count towards the residency, will these proofs stand should the Registrar decide to say otherwise later?
