You went from DOGE having zero government influence to DOGE being in charge of every aircraft in the sky.

That was before Elon overstepped his stated role and pushed the FAA chief to resign to null a SpaceX fine, overtook OPA to push civil servants out of office (including air traffic controllers and other officials that oversee safety), and pushed for Trump to cut regulations to better position SpaceX.
Cuts like these will end up costing the government more in the longterm for disaster relief, lawsuits, and a whole flurry of issues. A major aircraft crash can cost the government a billion dollars depending on damage, liability, etc. I suspect these two incidents, which were mass causality events, will burden the taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars at least, and we are only two weeks in to this new administration.
This is not fiscal responsibility.

Edith Olmsted in The New Republic Wrote:Donald Trump has found the perfect person to say if Elon Musk has conflicts of interest: Elon Musk.
During a White House press briefing Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked what steps the Trump administration was taking to address the conflicts of interest that arise from the billionaire technocrat serving as a “special government employee” heading the Department of Government Efficiency.
It seems that it’s up to Musk to decide.
“The president was already asked, and answered the question this week. He said that if Elon Musk comes across a conflict of interest with the contracts and the funding that DOGE is overseeing, then Elon will excuse himself from those contracts,” Leavitt said.

Here's something any true Department of Government Efficiency should root out: A millionaire official demanding $50,000 of your money for an "emergency" paint job on his government-furnished DC-area house.
House Appropriations Democrats Wrote:Pete Hegseth [should] explain why he expects taxpayers to pay for a $50,000 ‘emergency’ paint job on his furnished government house.
[Hegseth] wants the public to cover this and other living expenses at a time when many servicemembers and their families reside in unacceptable housing conditions that include mold, lead paint, and other hazards.
“Why is $49,900 for emergency painting of this residence necessary and how does that use of funds comply with the Administration’s stated goal of government efficiency?” the [Democratic House Appropriations Committee] Members wrote in their letter.
The Trump Administration touts government efficiency goals to justify draconian funding freezes and cuts to federal programs, services, and jobs. Secretary Hegseth has echoed those objectives, and is expected to earn $246,000 a year from his new public post, and over the last two years, he reportedly earned $6 million as a FOX News host and from other TV personality earnings. Yet, Hegseth has requested to live in a 4,000-square-foot government-furnished house, and requested over $137,000 in taxpayer-funded upgrades and other associated costs. Of that total amount, he’s asked taxpayers to pay a staggering sum of $50,000 for an “emergency” paint job.
Democrats Demand Secretary Hegseth Justify Asking Taxpayers to Cover $50,000 ‘Emergency’ Paint Job at Government Furnished Home: Millionaire’s wasteful expenses come as servicemembers face substandard housing (House Appropriations Democrats press release, February 7, 2025)

It just cost the US taxpayers $20 million for Trump to attend the Superbowl. What about fiscal responsibility?

Clean CR passed. Small increases in spending were offset by spending cuts.
Another win added to the win total.
Chuck Schumer is scared of DOGE. Lolz.
"While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse,” Schumer declared in a Senate floor speech Thursday evening. “Allowing Trump to take even much more power is a far worse option.”
“Under a shutdown, Trump and Elon Musk would have carte blanche to destroy vital government services at a significantly faster rate than they can right now”

CR Bill Details (per New York Post)
The minimal changes Republicans finagled into their CR include a $10 billion increase to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding and a $6 billion boost to defense.
To help pay for that, the CR pared about $13 billion in non-defense discretionary spending.

Under his direct management he dropped the value of Twitter by over 80%. This fact remains.
He tanked the value of it. He lost tens of billions of dollars due to bad business practices. He could have made it a public town square without losing money.
Twitter is worth less. The human capital was drastically cut, advertisers left, and increasing competition on the market has made it lose value.
Company value is assessed all the time and is not complicated. Experts project that it is worth over 80% less than when he bought it.

X finally valued at $44 billion, the exact sum Elon Musk paid for the social media site in 2022.
