New CSU Global CBEs! They make TESU and Excelsior look bad and COSC look really bad.

This is great! A couple new SOC courses, making TESU Sociology a bit easier now. I'll have to update my my Soc plan on the wiki. I can definitely see me going back to TESU for a useless 2nd BA in Soc some day, haha.

More new ones:

Public Administration (I think)

Management in the Global Economy

Modern Organizational Theory

Strategic Marketing

US History 1945 to present

There is also one missing from the list, that will be a major disappointment to any CJ majors (it's a requirement):
Research Methods for the CJ Professional

Also, this now means that you could add a PM Grad Cert to your degree if you wanted (between Sophia & CSU-G, I think you have all 4 courses covered), and you're close to being able to get your BSBA in Entrepreneurship or International Business.

Are most of these upper level credits? Or are they half and half, hmm... I'll have to check their webpage for clarification.
These would be great alternatives to those hard to find UL AOS courses if they are in fact mostly upper level exams.

Almost all are listed at the 300-400 level except for a handful under the "general ed" category, but of course it's up to the receiving institution as to if they transfer in as upper level or not. Based on titles, some off these don't seem very "upper level."

For example, they have "Intro to Criminal Justice" at the 300 level. My money is on there being no way TESU doesn't transfer that in as Criminal Justice/Administration of Justice 102

They're not courses, they're Credit By Examination. Think of it as another form of UEXCEL or TECEP.
I'm not fully aware but, I don't think so. There shouldn't be any federal aid in these type of exams.

IIRC, CSU Global is a part of a pilot program that allows financial aid to pay for the CBEs, but you have to be an enrolled student. This thread has more information on them.

Thanks! This is what I found in that linked thread:
cypster Wrote:This is a very interesting thread. I just got off the phone with CSU Global and it looks like if you take 6 credits of online coursework with them, you can use any residual financial aid to pay for the CBE exams. Financial aid cannot be used to pay for the exams directly.

And the cost for 6 credits would be $2,100, so I'm not sure any Pell Grant money would be left over at that point, but for those using loans it might work well. https://csuglobal.edu/cost/tuition/tuition-rates

Ahhh...!
So I guess this means if I'm interested, I should contact CSU for further details... "Both
Experimental Site programs will allow the university to offer federal financial aid for alternative credit
programs in support of the university’s mission of increasing student success by reducing the cost and
time-to-completion to earn a bachelor’s degree."

I know this isn't what the thread is about, but does it look like it would be worth checking if any of the newer CBEs would qualify for UL SocSci AOS (at TESU)?

I was particularly thinking of:

U.S. History from 1945 to the Present
HST300EX (3 credits)

Working in Modern Society
SOC300EX (3 credits)

Race, Gender, and Ethnic Relations in the U.S.
SOC310EX (3 credits)

Community Development
SOC460EX (3 credits)
