Need to pass American Government!!! Advice
#1
Hello, I'm taking the American Government clep exam May 1st and I have to pass it in order to graduate this Spring. Can anyone give me any advice on what to focus on when studying for it, or which study guide was helpful. Thank you.

I took this and passed it last month. I used the IC flashcards, Specific Exam Feedback, CliffNotes and We The People Shorter Version for things that weren't covered in the flashcards. I also did the practice exams. It wasn't a hard test and the flashcards and specific feedback covered everything. Good Luck!

Hi! I am just starting to study for this. Marianne’s advice is excellent; I am planning to use all of those materials.

I bought the Cliffs Quick Review book for this (for some reason, I have the 2001 version but there is a newer edition), but they have a completely updated free version online:

American Government - CliffsNotes

+Glossary: Tools & Resources: American Government Glossary - CliffsNotes

+Bill of Rights: Tools & Resources: American Government Cheat Sheet - CliffsNotes

The only things that are not included are a chart of How a Bill Becomes a Law and about 100 review questions.

They have a sample PDF chapter for AP US Government and Politics which includes 15 questions:

U.S. Government and Politics:Title Information - CliffsNotes

If you haven't joined IC, run, don't walk, and sign up. Go through the flashcards several times and make sure you go through the posts on the specific exam forum for Am. Gov. There are great study notes and advice on the test there.

Codface is right on with great advice! Join IC and review the specific exam feedback. Best $20 bucks you'll ever spend!
American Gov is a bit tricky. If you read the feedback, you'll find lots of folks underestimated this one.
I did not give it the study time it deserved and my grade reflected that. I managed to pass but would have done far better had I heeded the postings in the specific exam forum and focused on studying more relevant materials. Lesson learned.

Best of luck to you!
