Straighterline change question

This was posted on a homeschool site I belong to. Can someone explain this to me?:
FYI Straigherline policy change: For those of you using Straighterline courses in your homeschool, I just learned that their proctoring process via webcam now specifies your notes (for open book tests when allowed) must be hand-written, and that typed notes of any kind are not allowed. Straighterline courses are self-paced online courses with ACE evaluation for college credit and several partner schools (overall transfer-ability level: limited)

This was on a thread earlier this week. There was some confusion about the notes, it was not stated on SL or TECEP's that notes had to be handwritten rather than typed, but ProctorU was insisting that they had to be. It has apparently now been clarified.

Off the subject, if you don't mind my asking - what grades are your kids in? I also homeschool my kids, and I'm wondering when I should start them on their testing (besides the obvious "when they know the subject").

My kids are freshman just turned 14 & sophomore 15 - I wish we would have started last year. They are focused and doing great.
