Need help with Degree Planning
#1
Hello, I am a Canadian 24 yo. I am planning on doing Bachelor's degree in Computer, Software and IT. I really need some guidance. I want to be able to do it online and my budget is flexible 8k - 10k. I am ideally looking to do this as fast as possible and willing to put in the effort and max time per day, and max commitment.

Here is the catch, I didn't finish high school but I did enroll Bachelor's degree (Business) in one course through Athabasca University in ACCT 250. I realized math is not my best and so I want to switch something in Computer Science & IT as I am better at this and do software development as a hobby. I think this skill would make it easier for me to learn and commit.

I need a full plan as to where should I start and what classes, I am looking at Sophia's website as per the wiki but I am still unsure of what program or what school I should transfer my credit's if I start with Sophia.

If anyone could give me advice as to what course I should be looking into for my Bachelor's degree, I prefer software development and IT security. I should also mention, I did not stick with Athabasca because of the costs. It is very expensive.

Edit: To add to this, I was thinking of doing the fastest/cheapest undergrad and then the master. So maybe should I do my undergrad in a completely unrelated field? What is the faster degree I could do?

Hey User7364! I got your private message.  You've provided a great introduction, but it's still missing some contents of the template and last post addendum here, so fill us in on the missing components: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

Yes, skip Athabasca, it is out of your budget, not effective/efficient either in finishing your degree.  With that budget of 8-10K, I assume that's USD and not CDN?  And if you have the energy/time to get this completed, you can take a look at TESU double degree, BSBA CIS and BACS.

I don't think most schools will let you enroll w/o a high school diploma or GED, so that's your first step.

BACS - TESU
BSIT - WGU if they'll let you
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone  Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats  Ed4Credit Acct 2  PF Fin Mgmt  ALEKS Int & Coll Alg  Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics  Kaplan PLA

You definitely need a diploma or GED or whatever they do up in Canada. If you can do a GED exam, I would suggest working on the Gen Ed requirements at Sophia for TESU - it will double as GED study material while you earn ACE credits.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:

Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)

I got accepted into TESU. I have decided to go with BSBA Finance. I already work in the field of finance (Trading Firm) & I can use this to do masters in finance related field.

For Finance, you can use the following:

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...re_Roadmap
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...egree_Plan

You will need at least 24 RA credits (or RA-equivalent foreign credits), plus the capstone/cornerstone.

Also, you might have been accepted, but they might not allow you to graduate until they have proof of HS diploma/GED. I think they sometimes do conditional approvals for students.

I spoke to the admission office, they told me - because I had previous credit they would accept me. Anyway, I am just starting down this path and would like to know, once I earn credits from Sophia for example, do I just send them the transcript each time? I read about Credly, I also have the email for TESU transcripts. Do I need to enroll myself in a course on the TESU site or can I just keep sending them transcripts for evaluation as per my degree plan? I am starting with Sophia -> Study.com -> Others -> TESU Cornerstone and TESU Courses.

Yes - That's the steps I would recommend, work on the Sophia.org courses then jump to Study.com, and finish at TESU. You will need to look up the wiki and find the courses you would either take as TECEP or another RA source, lastly, finish at TESU. I'm not sure what you wanted me to reply within this thread...

Anyways, you may want to review my previous post above and follow the Sophia/Study combo. Last but not least, the more details you provide us, the better. Are you from Alberta since you went to Athabasca, or some other province? If you were in Quebec, you have the CEGEPS after grade 11, did you attend that?

BTW, Athabasca is RA, so you need only 27 more credits RA to finish at TESU. I suggest doing the 16 credits at TESU to bypass the residency waiver. That leaves you with about 11 RA credits to complete, you can do the two cheap ones from ASU UL $25 1 credit and the freebie from Clackamus for 1 credit and do just 3 TECEPS (English I, II, CIS-107) to finish off the 9 credits.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes I am from Alberta. I will follow your advice.

I was just wondering, can I just take my time and keep sending transcripts to TESU? Will they not care if I don’t enroll myself into anything for a while?

In order to be fully enrolled and stay fully enrolled, it is important to take a class directly from TESU or to pay for a TECEP approximately every 12 months. You do not have to take the TECEP. It is only to obtain/maintain full enrollment. The cheapest way to do this is to pay for the 1-credit Medical Terminology TECEP for $52.

Without taking a class or paying for a TECEP, you will remain in applicant status. You will only get 2 transcript evaluations before they put your transcripts on hold. If you sent in foreign transcripts, you've already used up at least one evaluation. I would strongly suggest paying for the TECEP so that you can send your Credly credits as-needed. I usually recommend every 1-2 months, depending on how fast you complete classes.
