Need help finding a graduate program that will take really old TV Production Credits

@lisarox, if the dean isn't available, there are other staff members that will be able to assist you further, I would try going up the chain from admissions, advising, to the registrar, and so on... I'm curious to what happens, please update us and keep us in the loop.

Wait. You never asked BU if you could return to complete the thesis? The first thing I would do is talk to admissions and the dean of that department to see what can be done.

Well the last time I spoke with them was 2011 and they said I had seven years from the first semester (2005) to finish.

This has been something on my mind the past couple of years. That's why I reached out; someone thought of something that I did not.

Even if the first person you speak with says 7 years, keep going up the chain. Someone may say since it's just the thesis that they'll allow you to finish it. Deans come and go, but there is always a dean, chancellor, vp, or president to ask.

Update: COM Graduate admissions ignored me after a few follow ups. Then I got busy with a new job. Recently, I set up a call with Graduate Affairs and they pushed me to the registrar. The Registrar pushed me back to graduate affairs, but also gave me an email for the Graduate Admissions department. So , I am waiting to get in touch with someone there.

You might do some digging and see if there is anything in their institutional accreditor's policy (or the programmatic accreditor, if there is one for your program) about age of credits. I know in the social work field, the programmatic accreditor itself sets the rules that credits can be no more than 6 years old to transfer. If there is no such policy by the accreditor, then you have a pretty strong argument to make with the school to find a way to make an exception to policy. especially if you are willing to take an extra course or two to bring your knowledge current.

So Far I can't find anything about a time limit from NECHE's website (https://www.neche.org/resources/standard...reditation).

It's spring break now, so I don't expect to hear anything for a while.

Got bounced around a few more times and it led back to graduate affairs.

Eff it, I'm just going to reapply

I was just going to suggest that, even if you have to appeal after the initial application review.  We look forward to finding out what happens once it become 'real' - fingers crossed it works out in your favor.

I sent in my application on 5/1 (the deadline) and i got this email from the assistant dean:

"Hi Lisa,

I hope things are going well. I wanted to reach out, as we received your application for the MS in Television program. The committee noted your previous coursework toward the MS in Television in 2005-2006. At this stage, we think it’s better for you to work with my team in COM Graduate Affairs and the Department of Film and Television/TV master’s program to figure out how to finish your degree, instead of applying as a new student to the degree and starting from scratch.

I’ve copied my colleagues on this email in the hopes you can all touch base in early June. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!"
