Need advice on unofficial eval from Excelsior
#1
I'm a newbie to this forum and I need to see how to proceed with the unofficial eval I received last week. I was anticipating having to take several cleps to cover the credits towards a BSLS, but was totally blown away when my eval shows that I (may only) need the following:
"In the General Ed (Art & Sciences)-5 semester hours in upper level, with one hour in the Natural Science/Math (or) one hour in the Social Science/History, with a depth in Arts & Sciences". I hope that makes sense.

Excelsior won't say much more without my enrollment, so I wanted to put this before this forum for your advice. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

DSST Civil War and Reconstruction along with the DSST Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union would fulfill six hours of upper level credit including the one hour in Social Sciences/History. Do you already have six hours in history? If so, those two exams will also fulfill the depth requirement. If not, I suggest the CLEPs U.S. History I and II. Congrats on only being 2-4 exams away from a degree!

Thanks Allisa for your feedback. I will look to start prepping for the DSST's Civil war and reconstruction & Rise and fall of the Soviet Union. If the official eval confirms the unofficial eval, I will try to get conferred in June. Since I see you received your BSLS through Excelsior, do you think prepping/testing for thetwo DSST's and getting transcripts for final eval is realistic? Thanks again.

Yes. I studied for each of those exams 2-3 weeks using IC and recommended books off the fact sheets at DSST - GetCollegeCredit.com I passed both with that amount of study time, and prometric usually had my transcript to Excelsior within two weeks. I'm pretty sure both of these exams yield letter grades at EC, so you will want to study hard! Neither of them are easy, but doable.

Good luck!
