Need Opinions On Straighterline Vs CLEP For Macroeconomics
#1
Hi guys!

Got my issues straight with TESC, thank goodness, and as of yesterday, I am an ALEKS course and 3 credit hours of economics away from graduating.

I am wondering at this point though, which would be better to take. I've done reasonably decent on past CLEPS (all passes) but I guess in some ways economics scares me.

I have little knowledge of it, other than the books I bought to study for the CLEP... but I guess I am afraid to take the CLEP and fail, and be left with only a short period of time to finish everything in.

I am trying to graduate by December, which means everything has got to be in, and starting to be processed (from what I've been told) by Oct 1... but I get a slightly different answer as to what "processing" means every time I call.

I guess I am just nervous that SOMETHING is going to mess me up and I don't know which cards to play... any advice would be great.

I'm about 2 weeks from finishing ALEKS, and around that time I was planning on taking the CLEP as well, but I dunno. :o

The CLEP for Macro isn't that bad. The IC cards are sufficient, I think.

Straighterline, IMO, is a huge headache and as far as I know still has an uncertain future. Go with CLEP.

Thanks. I guess I am just getting overly paranoid... hilarious

I think I would actually cry in the testing center if I didn't pass, with being like 6 credits away... (or 3 actually, because I am doing an extra ALEKS course so one in particular will be on my transcript for other things)

I am sure it will work out though, CLEP's overall don't go very deep into the concepts most of the time.... it's more of the same sort of question 50 different ways...

Nothing is going to mess you up. I CLEPPED the Macro using IC only. It covers the basics that you need for a pass. My son used STRAIGHTERLINE for Macro. It requires more effort, but is very doable. Use IC and take the CLEP. It will be enough to pass. Backup plan is STRAIGHTERLINE. Nothing is going to mess you up.

I used IC (of course); REA; Pass Your Class and Baron's EZ 101.

REA was right on for this exam.

Best of luck.

I'm studying for macro and micro right now. Straighterline appears to be a pain and it's future is questionable. I second the motion to do the IC/REA/wikipedia shuffle. If you bomb it you have a backup plan.
