Hello everyone,
I'm Vaibhav from Canada , and I'm at a bit of a crossroads with my education. I need online education Masters degree course preferable MBA for Canadian immigration.
Here’s what I’m hoping to find in an MBA program:
- Basics About Me:
- Where I'm From: Located in Canada on work visa and an Indian citizen
- Academic Journey: Did Bachelors in technology in 2011
My MBA Wishlist:
Program Focus: General MBA
School Location: Must be in the USA or UK (preferably USA)
Accreditation: Needs to be accredit by six regional accreditors such as HLC, WASC, etc and must be recognized by WES as Masters.
WES is one of the body which provides equivalency of foreign degree as per Canadian standards.
Duration: Around 12 months would be perfect
Learning Format: Fully online, flexible for any time zone (night or day)
Budget: Hoping to keep it under $15000
Exam Proctoring: Minimal
University or College Preference- Would prefer University than college
Upgrad Degrees- Getting 2 options from Upgrad, one is from GGU and second is edgewood college. GGU got notice of concern issued and has review pending next year, Edgewood college is not appearing in WES institution list as it is one of the colleges and HLC accredited.
Additional Considerations:
Work Life: I am in HR and management role and total experience of 13 plus years
Potential Choices: Lamar University, LSU, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, UTPM and Texas A&M International University.
Studies Coursework- Minimal time requirement as I'm working professional and can spare only around 12-15 hrs/week.

Seeking Your Advice:
- Do the universities on my list make sense for my situation?
- Does anyone have experience with these universities?
- Any other university recommendations that might fit my unique needs?

Welcome to the board, where in Canada are you? Toronto, Ontario? That's a very good first initial post, but it's still missing some information asked for in the addendum and template such as your age, commitments, study habits, etc. It's great to have questions and seek answers to them. Have you created a shortlist besides those potential choices and made backup options? Did WES Canada take that 2011 degree and evaluate it favorably? There are so many options to select from, since you're asking for the biggest two markets, US & UK...

12-15 hours a week to work on courses and you want to complete an MBA in 12 months? That may not be realistic. I completed my MBA at Amberton University in 10 months, but I had to take 4 grad courses a couple of terms. I absolutely worked on coursework far more than 12-15 hours a week.
Amberton University does not have proctored exams. There are few exams and they're all open book. AU is an RA university located in Texas. They have a physical campus and an online program. The online program makes up the majority of their students. Tuition is $300 per credit.

Hi there,
Yes I'm in Toronto, ON.
Age- 35
Commitment- Family and professional commitments, but can spare 15-20hrs/week for studies easily.
Study Habits- I did studies back in 2011, but i can do it for the sake of getting a degree.
Please note- I did Bachelor's from Indian public University-GGSIPU, which doesn't send sealed transcripts online for evaluation. Someone has to go manually and collect transcripts and send it to university as per US standards. Its a time taking process and probably will take 2-3 months time.
WES Evaluation- Yes, its favorable and evaluated as Bachelor's. It was B.Tech Degree in Electrical and Electronics.
Shortlisted Universities- LSIB UK, Edgewood College,US and GGU,US as they are not asking for Bachelors degree evaluation.
Hope this helps.

Hi, Appreciate your reply.
I am okay to spare more time as well if needed. I just gave general overview, I am okay to spend more time as well in case studies need to be completed in 12-15 months timeframe. Most of the university's require WES/NACES evaluation course by course for international students except couple of them from upgrad.

Hi all,
I applied and studied with UpGrad (Edgewoord College) since summer 2024, with weekly assignments but no exam . You can use my code AUQGZX and get USD 500 as fee waiver via upgrad, please delete my post if it is not permitted.

You're doing it for extra points, right? You could also look at the MBA from LJMU via UpGrad although it is 18 months instead of 12. Most people who did it for extra EE points described it as easy on the CanadaVisa Forums.
