I started studying ALEKs intro to stats about 2 weeks ago and finished intro to stats in about 8 days just barely with a 72% on my 3rd assessment.
I had that transferred to ACE in a day or so. Once it transferred in correctly I went back into ALEKs and changed my course to business stats which is upper leve biz credit at TESC.
I started taking the initial assessment a few days ago and I have been doing it very slowly each day since I only barely know this material.
I just finished it with a 70% so I went back into ACE and requested credit!!!
I'm very excited about ALEKs and how fast you can get credit and learn material.
This makes 6 college credits 3 LL math and 3 UL biz for $20 and <2 weeks of work!

Don't panic, but you might only get one or the other- I think TESC is calling all stats duplicate (intro, business, social sci). However, if you are a business major, it might be a different application of the credit - so don't quote me...just giving you the heads up.

Thanks Allison!
Yeah Jennifer I heard something like that too but I am planning on doing a BSBA so we'll see how it goes. At any rate it didn't cost me anything except some time.

WOW! I was not good enough at math to go through ALEKS that quickly. I am very impressed. I think that this is a very economic route for people that already know a lot of math.. definitely cheaper than CLEP.
Had I actually finished ALEKS, it would have taken me at least six months. I am glad that between ALEKS and IC, I learned enough to pass the College Math Clep so I didn't have to torture myself..

ALEKS is a self-paced online class that costs $20 per month, so you pay ALEKS company. The test (assessment) is part of the course. If you complete 1 course inside of 1 month, you get 3 credits for $20! Of course, many people (like me lol) require several months to pass stats or whatever, so it can end up costing more. On the other hand, if you have some exisiting knowledge, you can (in theory) pass as many classes as you can inside that month! So, 1, 2, 3 classes = $20
ALEKS -- Assessment and Learning, K-12, Higher Education, Automated Tutor, Math
If you sign up, google for a coupon code, sometimes you can get a free month!

I would not say that I am great at math, good maybe.
I did have a LOT of math in college but that was way back in 1994-1996 and its easy to forget it.
I am a computer programmer and I don't use difficult math very often but we do work in a math oriented world.
This stats was NOT easy for me. The best thing to do is to take notes by printing out all the explanation pages. Then when you get that type of question on the assessment you can refer to an already answered question to rework the problem. This is the essence of open book testing which is easier and harder at the same time.

Yeah it is a good feeling when you pass isn't it!
I'm studying biz law right now and testing tomorrow. Can't wait to see that screen at the end telling me I passed.
Its just one more class checked off of my list!
Tonight I took the CLEP computer test and it was so easy it was almost a joke!
