N.J. Governor Wants to Merge Thomas Edison Into Rutgers
Yes*** you are both crazy.. make room, I might be doing the same in August or September.

PS, The 30 credits required for the second will be lowered to twenty something... I was not paying attention when the advisor mentioned it, and was too caught up with getting my evaluation updated.....

WhooHoo!! We may have to schedule a 2nds grad dinner!!!Confusedmilelol:

Lowering to twenty+?? This is great news!! Do you have any idea when? I'm guessing the guidelines will be in the new July catalog. I will definitely wait to activate the new program on the new policy effective date.

Thanks for the inside scoop!!!:hurray:

Below is a copy of the e-mail I received about it.

Hi Linda,

I checked on the college's second degree policy and you would be able to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in History, because it is a different subject area than your first Bachelors degree. As of right now our second degree policy states that students are required to do at least 30 additional (new) credits to go for a second bachelors degree. If you wait until after July 1, that policy is changing and you will only have to do at least 24 new credits. I did an unofficial evaluation for a BA in History for you and based on what you have already taken you will need 30 credits in history regardless because right now you only have 3 completed.

You also asked me yesterday how the BA in History is changing after July 1. After July 1 students will be required to complete at least 18 credits of 300 or 400 level courses in their major.

If you have any other questions let us know.

Thanks,

I want to test out of the whole thing so I will do the 30 200 and up credits

Wonderful! Thanks Linda! I will set up an appt to speak with a BS advisor to discuss early next month. Most of the business exams are 300 level, so this is perfect timing. Depending on the new requirements I wonder if I am able to test out as well? We'll see. Again, thank you both for the info. This is exciting!

Plans for Rutgers, Thomas Edison merger are not in $29.4M budget deal | NJ.com

Quote:The budget compromise reached between Christie and state legislators earlier this week drops the merger idea and restores part of Thomas Edison’s state funding.

I'm very happy about this, and think it's the right move. But I'd hope they would kick up some fees here and there and not simply fire people. Distributing the budget shortfall over 18,000 students I think would actually make for happier students overall, rather than having an already much maligned staff further reduced. I guess they'll probably do both though.
