I wish there was a compiled list of states that will not accept CLEP for CPA but I have looked up 5 states that we could end up in. So far ( Florida is a no ( does not accept CLEP) But Virginia, Idaho, New Jersey and virginia have no exceptions for Clep that I have found. Thanks to everyone who brought this to my attention!

There is always the option to go CLEP for now (meeting NC and one or two of the other likely options' requirements) to qualify for those states's CPA licensing, and maybe pick up the other courses one at a time as time permits? You never know what the future might hold. Or, there are many schools that offer the accounting courses you'll need. Quite a few community college are offering expanded listings of courses, and a number of four-year schools that are RA but off the beaten path are jumping on that same bandwagon. Look local and see what is available for non-enrolled students online for in-state rates (some neighboring states may also offer partner rates, i.e., some FL schools do for AL residents and I've seen others comment of similar agreements in other states).
Best of luck whichever path you choose!

Maybe someone can give me some more feedback.....As we have discussed some states do not accept "CLEP" to be become a CPA....SO in that case is it better that I straighterline as many of the classes that I can. ( making Clep my last choice)?? Are there any disadvantages to choosing Penn Foster, DSST or Straighterline first before a CLEP? Just to refresh your memory I am overseas so I have to do online and I only have the next two years "off" as a stay at home mom to get these classes done. So that is why I chose TESC....Thanks in Advance....

Can, if I'm reading the Fla. requirements correctly, 27 UL credits (12 acctg. 15 bus.) can't be Clep/dsst, but since you will need another 30 credits after your BSBA, I would look into fulfilling that requirement in grad classes post-TESC-BSBA. That will mean online grad classes if you are still overseas, or you can do in-seat classes if you move by the time you are ready.

If the schools do not accept CLEP, I can almost guarantee they will not accept Straighterline, Penn Foster, or any of the other ACE-only accredited options. You will likely need to stick to regionally-accredited credit sources if you are wanting to include more stringent states in your list of options. There are six regional accreditation boards, and in your other thread, Marianne linked a list of them for a starting point to research. SL and PF are not regionally-accredited, however. They are favorites on this forum because TESC, Charter Oak, and Excelsior accept ACE-approved choices, along with CLEP, DSST, and other test-out options, but many CPA licensing boards are more strict in what they'll accept and expect butt-in-seat or online equivalents only.
