My TESC BSBA Roadmap - Have Couple of Questions
#1
Thanks to everyone on this forum who has posted anything related to the TESC BSBA program.

I have been working on my Roadmap for about 8 hours and I think I'm done!

I am transferring an Associates degree from a community college.

My evaluation has already been completed, so my roadmap is based on that.

You can see the RoapMap Here..

It probably has more information than you're interested in reading, but it helps me keep things organized. The cost section is just a range, so disregard that.

The courses that I need to complete are highlighted in yellow.

My questions are:

Can you view my plan to see if anything jumps out as being incorrect?

How much is the course at Penn Foster?
I've read that Penn Fosters ENG121 satisifies the Managerial Business Communication required. Is that true?

Does TESC require me to take any courses with them?

My intent is to take 1 - ALEK , 1 - Pen Foster , 6 - CLEP, 9 - DSST, 2- TECEP

Thanks again for everyones help.

Here's one opinion, I'm sure you'll get more.....

1) CLEP College Math is counted as 6 credits at TESC. Also why not do the entire math sequence from Intermediate to Algebra through Aleks.

2) It may be easier to take CLEP Intro to Computers (transcribed by TESC as COS 101) and DSST MIS (transcribed UL by TESC as CIS-301) if you are comfortable with computers and they both fit into the program

How much is the course at Penn Foster?
About $300. Research the new Business Communication option from Straighterline (do a site search)

Yes, again see above.

Does TESC require me to take any courses with them?

They don't require it, but if you don't take any courses from them, then you won't have an official GPA from them. If you decide to take a class from them, then I'd go for Business Policy, not because the TECEP is hard (read Specific Feedback thoroughly and you will pass) but it is the capstone course of a business degree, so that would be the most useful to take, especially if you have little management experience... since it explains how to think strategically.

Thanks for your reply and all your insightful answers.

Good Idea - I will into that.

2) It may be easier to take CLEP Intro to Computers (transcribed by TESC as COS 101) and DSST MIS (transcribed UL by TESC as CIS-301) if you are comfortable with computers and they both fit into the program

Can you tell me on my plan where I could fit these into? To replace something else.

Will do!

I am only pursuing a degree because I have a government job now and in order to progress I need a BSBA. I already have 10+ years of experience, so once I have this degree, I should be at the top. (Hopefully)

DSST Management Information Systems is listed under Area #4 Management
as Management Information Systems (DANTES Examination)

Thomas Edison State College | BSBA in General Management Credit Distribution

Your evaluation placed a course called "Business Management" under Business Electives. I would get hold of the original course description complete with a provided link and submit a help ticket asking that it is also gets placed in Area #4 Management. Then you could slide CLEP Intro to Computers into the Business Elective slot. You must be prepared to argue your case with complete description and link, so that the advisor has it all layed out in front of him. No effort, no results.

I sent the email. I didn't even catch the Business Management thing. Hopefully TESC will agree.

I've changed my Gen Ed Electives to ALEKS College Algebra and ALEKS Intermediate Algebra.

After doing a search on this forum, I've chosen to use Straighterline instead of Penn Foster for Business Communications. They say they have been "conditionally" approved by ACE. So I'll do that course towards the end of my tenure so that I can make sure everything is straight with SL and ACE.

Thanks again for your help.

My roadmap is updated if anyone is interested in reading. I most an update once TESC replies about changing my Management Course to General Management.

blueboxer,

Thanks for sharing that info. When I went through getting my BS Business originally, there were a handful of other IC forum members doing the same degree at the same time. It helped to have that....while you're finishing out your degree, please hop on and give advice/input to others asking questions about the business programs. This is how you give back to others on this forum. I know I'm stating the obvious, but younger/newer posters are what keep this thing flowing.

Good luck!

I received a reply from TESC. The business management course cannot be applied as a Management requirement because it's a 100 level course. I would have to do a UL course for it to apply.

I will help out other people and pay it forward just as you have done! Thanks again.
