My Journey from Dead End Job to Success
#81
I'm in Baltimore for Amazon operations leadership training which is outstanding. But between training homework, the usual family phone calls and my mom being admitted and discharged from a hospital in NJ while I'm here, it's been reeeealy hard to work on MBA stuff. But I knuckled down and banged out task 2 for Management Communications and submitted it a few minutes ago. Should be able to finish task 1 by the end of the week. Hopefully they'll pass on the first try and I'll have another class knocked out by next week.
I don't usually watch the videos associated with the courses but this instructor's videos were very helpful in detailing how to complete the two tasks.

No shame in taking a break when life happens. Part of the beauty of WGU is being able to call a quick time out if you have to....just be sure you get right back on! Smile
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Yeaha!!!
The task I submitted for Management Communications while in Baltimore met requirements.
The second task for the course is 2/3 done, just need to record a 7 minute video in Panapto with my PowerPoint and it'll be ready to submit.
And I'm back home with my family tonight.

Thanks, jsd. This started as an accountability threat and somehow ended up being a journal of academic and career progress. It keeps me on track and if someone else is getting something out of it - bonus!

At WGU, non-test assessments are uploaded to Taskstream and queued awaiting grading. Once all assessments for a course obtain the coveted "Meets Requirements", that course is done.
Waiting for the assessments to be reviewed is my new obsession. I'm waiting to see if a task meets requirements to know if I'm done with Management Communications and it's only down to 84th in queue (it started at over 200).
Good lord I prefer the test based assessments that are graded immediately by the computer over waiting! If I were a super hero (or villian), I'd be Instant Gratification Lass.

Back in my day there was no que...up hill both ways, we submitted our papers and we waited.

Haha, I can totally imagine stalking the que system hoping for that all important "meets requirements". You're tearing this up, I'm loving the updates.

Thanks to everyone for the cheering on - you have no idea how much that helps me. The career, mom, wife, girl scout leader, daughter, sandwich generation routine is crazy enough without adding this MBA to it. And then there's life stuff...remember the fuel pump I replaced in my old car last week? Yeah, well on the way back from Baltimore the battery / brake dashboard light came on. Jackpot! it's the alternator.
I replaced the fuel pump because I put money into the front end 6 months ago. MBA taught me these are sunk costs and not pertinent to future decisions. So I'm not putting the alternator in and spent yesterday and today getting a slightly used but not abused Nissan Rogue. Buying the car took time I had budgeted for studying so I gotta hit it hard tonight to catch up.
